Hello everyone,

I am looking for cheap but nice furniture in the West Chester and even Monroe areas. I am specifically looking for queen bed, desk, lamps etc. I want it to look nice but affordable. How do you find out about garage sells - what is a flea market? We just moved here from Michigan and I am just clueless and feel out of place. Any assistance would be great. Thanks.

What can I do next?

Garage Sales held locally in the Monroe, WC, Liberty Twp., etc. areas are most often listed in the local weekly (Thursday publication) newspaper, the Pulse Journal, which is delivered to homes at no charge. You can also view them at www.pulsejournal.com.
Another suggestion is to join www.freecycle.org., a website that allows folks to offer items for free that they no longer want to avoid disposal in landfills. You can also post a requests for items you are searching for. You are asked join the freecycle group associated with the area you live/work so pick up of items is expedited.
Happy shopping!

I see you have already been told about the Pulse. But you can check the Cincinnati Enquirer also. They usually have section in the classifieds that list local garage sales. the web site is enquirer.com Happy Hunting.

You can check the local newspapers for garage sales. They are usually only on Saturdays. I am going to the new Akita store on Mulhouser Rd. I hear they have nice furniture at various prices. Good luck.....M. B

Hi LaDreka,
West Chester has a local paper that comes out on Thursday that will have listings of (usually) dozens of garage sales in West Chester and the Mason area. It used to be thrown at the end of the drive way when I lived in West Chester a couple of years ago.

I imagine you are asking about the flea markets there off 75 at exit 63? It is people who have rented booths, inside and in nice weather outside and are selling "stuff". Some of it is good "stuff" and some of it is junk. Some of it is over priced and sometimes you can get a good deal. You are pretty much expected to haggle or barter with the person for a better price. My best advice is to know what it is you are looking for so you don't get ripped off in the process because the bottom line is not everybody is honest. Sometimes the flea markets are good entertainent on bad weather days since they are indoors. They may have live music, plenty of junk food, it is fun to people watch and you never know when you might really find an excellent deal if you are seriously looking.

I moved here from Michigan years ago. I currently live in Mason which is just east of West Chester. If you want to get together drop me a line privately and let's see what we can do. I love meeting new people.

Ikea has some nice stuff at low prices, Value City Furniture always has a sale. I have even bought some tables at Wal Mart, you have to look online to see exactly what they have. If your in West chester, I am sure you get the Pulse Journal and they have the garage sales in the community section. Oh and the flea market (traders world) is a bunch of people bringing their stuff to a large warehouse and selling it, but some of the vendors have new stuff as well, you have to be careful what you get though, just my opinion.

We have had good luck using Craig's List. Garage sales are listed in the local free paper, Pulse Journal. Flea Market is in Monroe called Trader's World.
