Wondering if those with experience using Charlie's Soap could tell me about their experiences. Specifically, how the laundry powder is at keeping whites white and getting stains out. Thanks!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

We've been using Charlies Soap for a couple of over a month now and I love it. Our clothes are clean looking and they feel softer. Thanks to all who recommended it.

We use Charlies Soap! We started using it when we switched to cloth diapers. It contains natural ingredients, has no smell, leaves no residue, and rinses clean.

we've used it for random things too like getting oil out of hte concrete in our driveway, stains off the counter, even rust out of the tubs and sinks when our water softener took a dive. Make a paste and use a scrubby brush or sponge to work out those kinds of stains.

I can't say enough good things about it. My clothes have never been cleaner, if you need a stain remover you just make a paste out of the powder.... a bit of powder with a few drops of water and rub it in, then wash as usual.

Plus its super cheap.... $13 for a bag that lasts for quite some time. We use it full time (in our front load washer) and one bag lasts me a couple months. You only use one teaspoon per wash load, less if you have a smaller load. My oldest has eczema and this washes clean and leaves no residue or smell, so its great for his skin.

We use Charlie's soap as well in our house. We started using it with our cloth diapers and use it on all of our loads. The clothes always come out nice and clean and not stinky. We ran out and went to some kind of free and clear ALL or TIDE and the diapers would be really stinky so back to Charlie's soap we went and it is much better! My husband has senstive skin as well and does fine with Charlie's soap. The powder lasts for 80 washes. I have no complaints. Good luck in whatever you decide.

After using Seventh Generation, Caldrea, Ecover and Trader Joe's brand, I tried the liquid version of Charlie's Soap. As much as I wanted to like it, I didn't have great luck with it. I found that stains were very hard to remove and the soap left our clothes (particularly our towels) feeling very rough and scratchy. I read so many good things about it - perhaps it was just our water or machine. For our situation, I would not use it again.

I love charlies...great stuff. I have never used the liquid because I don't like the oils that liquids deposit on clothes. I use it on all our clothes, and cloth diapers. It rinses clean and it leaves the clothes really smelling clean...not perfumed. I would get the all purpose cleaner for really bad spots. My son cracked his head open and there was blood all over his white T-shirt. I was just going to throw it away, but I figured I should at least try to get it clean...worked like a charm. My son is a messy eater, and the dry powder cleans almost anything off without a pre-treater. I use the all purpose to clean everything, so you don't have to just use it as a spot cleaner on the laundry.

We've been using Charlie's Soap for several years--we love it! The trick, however, I've found, is to tweak the usage instructions a wee bit. I use the powder--I buy it by the huge bucket--and I use two scoops instead of the recommended one scoop. This may seem wasteful, but trust me, it really gets your clothing clean. Plus, it is still way less than conventional laundry soaps. (I have been using the same bucket for over a year!) My second tip is to purchase the all purpose cleaning solution that they sell--it makes an awesome laundry booster/bleach alternative. I buy the gallon jug and the pump, and just add a few pumps to the laundry. Also, if you use the cleaning solution as a stain pre-treatment, (just put some in a spray bottle, full strength), you will not have any stain issues. Anyway, I would totally recommend Charlie's Soap--it has saved us money, and is so much better for the environment, as well as my family's skin!

We love Charlie's Soap. We use it for the baby's clothes and our cloth diapers. We use a dry pail and the BumGenius sprayer and have a front loader. They come perfectly clean most of the time. Occassionally we'll have some stains that last through the wash, but they come out in the next wash or bleach out by hanging in the sun (not possible in the UP currently, but...). The baby's clothes seemed to have stayed white/fresh and definitely gets the stains out. We have used both the liquid and power and found them to be fine!

We started using the liquid for cloth diapers about a year and 1/2 ago. I have 4 kids and rarely use a stain remover, but if I need to, no stain issues. As far as whites, we have pretty hard water so it's hard to tell here....I enjoy the scent free and price. Have someone local that delivers for free (Cedar Rapids) If you're in the area let me know and I can give you her name!
