Hello Moms!

I am attempting to find a killer location in the surrounding area for a wedding ceremony site. We are not looking for a church, rather an outdoor area or indoor area that is really nice. Our budget is tight so cost is our main issue. We will most likely have 60-70 people attending the ceremony and 125 for the reception. We are open to all different ideas and suggestions. Thank you so much in advance and I love this forum. The mommies out there are wonderful, beautiful and as always – VERY helpful :-)

Much Love!
J.

So What Happened?

Thank you so much for your feedback. We have decided to go with a ceremony & reception at the same place. The Great American Pub in Conshohocken, PA. The room is fabulous and you can't bet the price.

Much Thanks!
J.

We got married at the Edgmont Country Club in Edgemont PA (near Newtown Square) and it was outdoors and beautiful. Another location is Ridley Creek State Park. We also looked at that.

The William Penn Inn in Blue Bell is a beautiful site with amazing food. We had our ceremony & reception in the same room and they did the set-up and take-down of the ceremony for free. It was about $60 a plate, which was one of the cheapest places we found, but everything was very classy and top-notch.

I got married in Vegas, but we had a wedding reception for 80+ people at the William Penn Inn in Gwynedd (202 and Sumneytown Pk). They had an incredible package and their prices were really great. Our budget was EXTREMELY tight, and I felt we got above and beyond anything we could have imagined. I originally wanted something outdoors, but with the catering, rentals, etc it was going to cost way more than I thought.

My friend got married at the Pearl S. Buck House in Perkasie, it was outdoor/tented and really unique.

Hi J.,
I'm not sure where you are located, but there is an amazing place called Cairnwood, and it is located in Bryn Athyn, PA, which is near Huntingdon Valley and Lower Moreland. Many different people rent it all the time for receptions/weddings, and I actually have a few friends that work there. Check out www.cairnwood.org. The grounds are really beautiful, and you can have your reception be indoors as well as outdoors. I"m not sure about the price though. Good luck! Jenica A.

I recommend looking at options within the Fairmount Park Commission. Bartram's Garden and several of the mansions are lovely and available for events. Here is a link:

I got married at Glen Foerd Mansion on the Delaware, which I cannot recommend highly enough. It was not as expensive as many full-service wedding facilities (we felt we got a very fair deal), however if your budget is extremely tight, it's probably not the best option. Other sites in the Fairmount Park Commission are more affordable and beautiful too.

Good luck, and congratulations!

ridley creek state park. Beautiful site indoor and outdoor and all day for just $175. You have to bring EVERYTHING in with you and the will allow for enough beer or wine to toast the bride and groom. check it out.

Ridley Creek State Park has a mansion they rent out for a small sum (though you have to rent your own tables and chairs and bring them in). I think it's booked quite far in advance, but it's very nice - my son was married there. :)

I got married this past October at Ridley Creek State Park. Itwas beautiful. The park is free to use and Ihad a local company in Media set up and tear down my chairs for about $2.00 a chair. I also had a violinist who cost me $150. My ceremony was low cost as we were paying for it ourselves and weren't looking to be married in a church either. As for my favors we did personalized bottles of wine from Tomaselo Winery in NJ. $84 dollars for 24 bottles. If you want to you can email me and I will send you all the vendors I used. I spent alot of time to make sure I was getting the best deal for my money.

I definitely agree with a few of the mothers that suggested Ridley Creek Park. I attended two weddings and the atmosphere is beautiful. The weddings were held in two different location and I wished I found this place when I got married. Both couples were on an extremely... did I mention extremely tight buget and it worked for them. The mansion is beautiful as well. I would command you to check this place out. I believe you will be pleased with what you get and a price you can't pass.

Also, I agree with another mother that mentioned William Penn Inn. Their food is delicious and atmosphere is also beautiful as well. (a good choice for date night too)
