Centennial Medical Center Vs. Richardson Regional Medical Center

Dr Harper delivered my daughter at Richardson Regional in 2003 and my son at Centennial in 2005 and will deliver our 3rd in Jan at Centennial. I had great experiences at both hospitals and thought both staffs were excellent. I only noticed little differences (food is better at RR, rooms were a little nicer at C). Once I hit 10 I deliver very quickly (10 min. w/ 1st, 3 pushes w/ 2nd) so it's better for me to be where the Dr is only a jog away instead of a car ride away. My sister is a newborn nurse (former L&D nurse in FW) and has a lot of friends who work at Centennial. I'll definately ask her to check into the staffing issues. Good luck w/ your decision.

I never discussed delivering at Centennial with my Ob/Gyn but my pediatrician hs told me if we have an emergency to get to Presby Plano with my little ones even though Cent. is closer (we live in Frisco). Just for it's worth...Good luck!

The Pedi group I work with pulled out of Centennial Med Center over numerous issues in the newborn nursery.
I would saty away if you can.

Let me add my 2 cents worth. I, personally have never gone to Centennial in Frisco, but everyone who I have ever heard talk about it or told me something that happened to them and they had to go there, it has been BAD!!

I would not go there just based on that. I delivered my son at Presby Plano and would only use that hospital, it was AWESOME!! Presby hospitals have always been great for my family. We have used the Allen, Plano & Dallas hospitals and would not hesitate to go back! I also had some complications after he was 5 months old that Allen Presby took care of, but no way would I use that facility. I have heard nothing good about that place.

Listen to your pediatrician, he obviously knows best. If he wouldn't take his kids there, then why should you?

I have checked out the website for Centennial Medical Center and I was not impressed. I was researching to find out further information about the Women's Services and Maternity Wardthat they offer. Can you believe they did not reference anything about?! That spoke a thousand words and says to me even though they are new, some things are still underdeveloped. I would stick with the hospitals that have been around a little a longer. I personally had a great experience at Presbyterian of Plano and would go plan to deliver all my babies there.

I too delivered at Richardson Regional and was looking to deliver at a hospital closer to home (Plano) for our second child. One thing that will keep me going back to Richardson Regional is the size of the rooms and great staff. Other hospitals have small rooms and I just don't hear good consistent things about the staff - especially kind and patient nursing staff.

I took my 21 month old to Centennial last March for an emergency, he grabbed a glass off the table and immediately dropped it and when it broke a shard cut his toe. I did not think he needed stitches but wanted to be sure. There was only one emergency room doctor on duty. The care we received was good but very slow, we were at the hospital for almost 3 hours. I think I could have driven to Medical City and been back home in less time.

The billing nightmare afterwards almost drove me to drink:-) I believe they're understaffed, we did not provide any information other than our address when we admitted by a nurse. After receiving a bill in the mail, I provided in writing 4 time the information required to file against our insurance. I finally turned everything over to my husband to resolve as he has more time. In July, it took two weeks of constant calling to get the hospital and Dr. to finally file with our insurance.
