Hi Moms! My husband and I are planning to send his parents a cruise for their 30th anniversary. They have never been on a cruise before and want to start out with a 2 nighter. Has anyone been on the Celebration Cruise Line that goes to the Bahamas? Did you enjoy it? How does it compare to other cruise lines?

Many thanks!

What can I do next?

You should look into the3 night Royal Carribean to the bahamas. It is WONDERFUL... as is the Carnival 3 night one. I've done them both and they are really a treat!

Once they've been, they'll want to go again. A dear friend specializes and can give you info on all the ships, what's appropriate for their age (they have gambling, theater shows, music, bingo, everything) Her name is
____@____.com
Good luck!

Been to the Bahamas with Carnival and they will LOVE it. It was my first and I was pregnant, sick and in bed almost the whole time but I still had a great time. We went on a 5 night and it was too short. You may want to reconsider the 2 night and maybe go for a 5 or 7. I've not heard of many poeple who didn't enjoy a cruise...especially the food! :)

Hi,

We haven;t been on the Carnival Cruise but the NCL Bahama cruise. I know people who have done both and the NCL comes up trumps each time. One main advantage of NCL is that is it is a more relaxed atmosphere, there are no set times for breakfast, lunch dinner etc but there are also restaurants that you can book a table. The rooms on aboard NCL where nicer than the Carnival cruise. There is a casino and they also have live entertainment.

We had our 1yr old with us when we cruised and it was great, I would def recommend it.

My husband and I took the Disney Cruise (with no kids) and LOVED it. There are adult only pools, restaurants, beaches etc., so you aren't always surrounded by kiddies. But, there are no casinos or 24 hour buffets either like many ships boast! Depends what they are interested in. Go with a larger ship whichever line you choose bc of movement and get them a room in the center of the boat. You don't want them rocking all over the place.

My husband and I did the Celebration Cruise to the Bahamas 2 years ago. We had only been on one cruise before that, a 10 day Western Caribbean cruise. The Celebration doesn't compare to that at all, but I don't think it tries to. The ship is VERY old and they don't go out of their way to keep it up to nice standards. The food was good, but again didn't compare to what we had on our previous cruise. The staff was all great, very friendly and would go out of their way to make you happy. The entertainment was mediocre but again, that's comparing it to our previous cruise experience.

All and all we did enjoy ourselves. We went when I was pregnant with my second child and it was our little kid free get-a-way before the baby came. I wouldn't recommend the Celebration for avid cruise goers but for first timers I think it would be fine.

Make sure you mention this is for their anniversary. They will give you a special rate!

We are avid cruisers. Love it. We have a six year old that loves the kids club. We have cruised Carnival, Royal Caribbean, Norweigan. They are all good. I'm not sure I've heard about the Celebration cruise. My parents are in theri 70's and cruise about 3X a year. They just booked a 14 day thru the Panama Canal. They prefer Royal, but also use Celebrity cruises. Carnival has more families/kids. I also agree on at least a three or four night cruise. Two nights is just too short. Port Canaveral and Tampa have a few that go 3 or 4 nights, but you will have a better selection going out of Ft. Lauderdale or Miami.
They will love it, it is a great gift!
