Catholic Church in Mayfield Heights

I have been attending St. Francis Parish for 16 years. My children have attended the grade school and I have been satisfied with both. Pastor is a great Priest. Before you join just attend one of the masses. We just went to the Christmas children Mass and we love it. My children are older and they still like to go to that mass. Growing up I went to school at St Clare and even went to school there. I would attend both churches and a see which one you like.

I would start with the phone book and visit a couple. There are also some nice non denominational churches that are small and very quaint. They appeal to all religions and are based on the Bible.

I live in Lyndhurst but travel to Willoughby Hills to St. Noel Church. You may not be interested in traveling that way, but just wanted to tell you that I love the church. It has a pretty diverse member community in terms of age but there are a lot of younger families with small children. The priest is very engaging and I always enjoy his homilies. I really like it there.
I live two minutes from St. Clare and my son goes to preschool there, which I am happy with, but I am not familiar with the church community itself. Good luck in your search.

Yes, I have heard of St. Francis of Assisi. It's in the money bags community of high society Gates Mills.

Also, consider St. Clare at 5659 Mayfield Road which is technically located in Lyndhurst near Mayfield Heights.
This is a middle class community. A lot of shopping and stores in this area. If you buy a house off of Mayfield Road in this area, you can walk to some of the small businesses. It's a walking community.

I love this area. There are shopping centers and restaurants near by. Check out Half Price Books and Costco while you are there! There is/was a small meat shop across the street from St. Clare's that begins with a "G". I haven't been to this area for over a year because of the high gasoline prices.

Some Catholics who live in Mayfield Heights go to this church (St. Clare) which is on the border of Lyndhurst and Mayfield. It is a nice small church and has a grade school. Call ###-###-####. Website is www.stclare.net.

Expect a mix of Italian and Hungarian families in this east side Catholic church. Hint -- that's why St. Francis and St. Clare (Italian saints) pop up as church names in this east side area. Keep us posted. Most of all have fun in this community that I love to visit from the west side!

We live in Wickliffe, but travel to Gates Mills to attend St. Francis of Assisi. It is a wonderful and very welcoming parish. We were looking for a parish a few years ago and absolutely love it at SFA! We are all (whole family) really involved w/ parish life. The staff and parishioners are great! As someone said below - just come to one of our masses and see for yourself - weekend masses are Saturday evening at 4:30 P.M., Sunday 8:00 A.M., 10:00 A.M., and noon, as well as a Life Teen Mass at 6:00 P.M. on Sunday night (if you like Christian rock, you'll love this mass - the band is great!) We have just hired a new music minister who will begin in January (our former music minister died of cancer in July and a few dedicated people have been filling in ever since). It is not a small parish, but you will feel like you belong here! Someone also said it is "in the money bag region" - yes, we do have some affluent parishioners, but there are also many who do not fit in this category (us!). St. Clare, St. Paschal Baylon, and St. Gregory the Great are also in the Mayfield area, but we love SFA!!!
