Can My Kids' Nintendo DS Lite Be Fixed?

Gamestop doesn't fix them. Does anyone know of another place that fixes them? Thanks.

My son's DS XL broke. Is it still under warranty? My son's broke 1 month before the warranty expiration. They said send it. We were able to ship it to Nintendo (in TN), they fixed it and sent it back.

You are going to hate me but I laughed just from the title. You can send them back to Nintendo but it is cheaper to just buy a new one.

Any time I get a new on I keep the old one. It isn't too hard to Frankenstein them together

If it's still under warranty contact Nintendo, they may be able to repair or replace it. It's best for Nintento to repair it, too, since they know their product. My sister found that out the hard way.

When my nephew's got broken he sent it to Nintendo and they fixed it for him. When my other nephew's was broken in a car crash and wasn't repairable they sent him a brand new one even though the warranty was expired. Give Nintendo a call, they seem to have a great customer service system for kids.

Personal experience speaking: If it is under one year from date of purchase, contact Nintendo (look their repair under warranty information online) and they will tell you what to do. There is information you need to include in your package when you send in the device for repair.
Under one year (unless it is damage from being dropped or misused) they will repair free of charge. If it is past the warranty period, they will repair for a charge and return it to you, with a brand new 1 year warranty from the date of repair.

Both my kids needed repairs to the hinges on theirs, from over/mis-use (apparently, it is very easy and common for kids to push too far on the hinge when they are playing. It is designed to go so far but will go farther and pop back to where it is supposed to go... repeatedly doing this, over time, will cause the little plastic piece to break off that keeps the hinge where it belongs, and it will get floppy.) Son's was a little floppy, daughter's was floppy and had top screen issues from the wiring in the hinge.

It was about $75 to repair the one, but since I had two, and were sending them together, they agreed to repair both for (I think--it's been several years ago now) $90. They were both returned to me with brand new full 1 yr warranties.

The kids have had ipod touches for about 2 years now, so it has been quite some time since those repairs... and we haven't needed any other repairs... though they still pull them out periodically and play with them. Especially on trips.

Just contact Nintendo and ask them. There is no obligation if you decide you don't want to pay whatever they are currently charging. Generally speaking they have a flat fee for repairs. Doesn't matter what it is... you send it, they fix it for $__ and return with a new warranty.

I think it took about 3 weeks or so before ours came back. Might've been 4. It was worth it though.
