I need to have a portrait made (indoors) of my 4 1/2 y.o. son and 1 1/2 y.o. daughter. I am looking for a really kid friendly place that takes good pics and doesn't cost too much. I can't hire an individual photographer because of cost. The only leads I have are Sears and JCPenny but isn't there something better than that?
I actually had very good luck at Sears in the past. Maybe seems cheesy, but our pics turned out lovely.

I found this person on craigslist. I've got an appointment to give her a try but what really got me was that she only charges $40 for a 1/2 hour session!!! She will take 30 - 40 photos of your children in her own studio (at her home). She then transfers them onto a CD and gives you a copyright release so you can get your own prints done wherever you want. I personally use Kodak Gallery online and love it!!! They even deliver to your local CVS store for $1.49 so there are no additional shipping charges. And if you mention the craigslist ad, she will give you a promotion rate of $25!!!! I haven't used her yet, but her website looks great. If you'd like I can get back in touch with you after my appointment.
My daughter has gotten amazing photos at "the People Place" in Lakeline Mall. My gandson is 7 months old and she has gone there several time as well as other moms in her playgroup.

Yes. Derrick Brown of Austin, Texas. He has his own studio in north austin. I know you said you cant hire an individual photographer but he's very reasonable. He will not try to upsale you either.
