Camera Recommendation

You might not need to get a new camera but just adjust the settings. There is this great video that Creative Memories has from this photographer. He tells you about adjusting the shutter speed and something else in order to handle photos with people moving. It was really great!

The speed that a camera will take a picture depends not only on the camera but on the card you use. Are you using the memory card that was a good deal or the high speed "ultra"? Mine is called ultra because my memory card is made by SanDisk but the other memory cards all have their own name for the faster card. This helps you click faster and take pictures faster. Caution with the sports mode because if you are not holding your camera super still (think tri-pod) with this mode, you will get blurred pics. On your pics... is your child blurred or is the whole picture blurred? If the whole pic is than that means you were moving the camera. I hope that helps. I have a Nikon cool-pics in my purse and a Nikon D70 SLR for events where I know I'll be taking tons of pictures. The SLR takes better pictures but it costs hundreds more than the point and shoot so it depends on your budget. We like Nikon but Cannon is great. Good luck! I hope it is just the memory card!

did yo try the different shooting options. usually a camera will have a sport or continuous option for better pics. See if your camera has that before shelling out money for a new one. It is totally worth seeing what your camera is capeable. I have to have my husband show me.

LOVE, love, love my Nikon Coopix P80!!! I actually can capture my children on film, without them coming out blurry, even when they are running around and hyper (which is pretty much always!!!).

Canons digital SLRs are great, and there are a variety of different camera bodies in various price ranges. This way you can also change lenses if needed. Canon has several point and shoots that a couple of steps up from teh elph too. I'm not sure what the models are, but they are a mid size camera and usually 2-300.

my husband and i had an older model of a cannon with a telephoto lens. it was easy to use and you could hook it up to the computer with a usb cable or take out the sd card. you could also hook it up to the t.v thru the cable it came with by hooking to the front of your d.v.d or vcr. i can't for the life of me remember the exact model but there are other models too that you can check into. your best bet would be go to the local camera store or dept. store and ask for assistance and tell them your price range you would like to stay in. rmember to try to get one that is durable incase of accidental drops or the little one gets ahold of it.

I have a Casio that was bought in 2004 that I love! I bought my dad a Casio for Christmas and he loves his too. In the $100 or so price range for a compact camera.
I also have the Canon digital SLR and I love it.
I Usually try to make sure I have the shutter speed set fast. (1/1000) and check aperture and ISO as well. I can take better pictures when I take mine off automatic and set my settings myself.
I do not like NIkon, but that is my personal opinion. My best friend Loves her Nikon but I have never had good experience with one.

Find the light.

The reason your photos are blurry is because you are probably shooting in less than ideal situations. When a room is dark.. the shutter speed slows way down in order to allow more light to the camera's sensor.. if you are using even the best dslr camera you'll get the same result without proper light.((light being natural or flash))

Are your photos blurry when you're outside in full sun? I'm going to guess not.. in full sun or open shade you have enough light for the shutter speed to open and close quickly enough to freeze motion.

What setting your camera on? If they are in motion while playing, you should have it set to what is usually a sports setting on a point and shoot. Usually a picture of a guy running or someone riding a bicycle. As well a little flash may help too.

I don't know what kind of price range you are looking for, but a DSRL would be the best option. However, if you are wanting a more of a point and shoot, one that I would suggest checking out is the Kodak Easyshare Z950. This model was released last July and when I purchased it in late August, the only place I could find it was on the internet. It is a 12mp with a 10x optical zoom. It has a lot of the standard features found on digital point and shoots, including an action mode. The best thing about it though is the capture speed. You can't do better without going to a DSLR. If I remember correctly, the Kodak cameras were rated as having the fastest capture speed at 0.3 seconds. However, that was in either 2007 or 2008. I don't know if there are any more recent figures on capture speeds.

So far I really love this camera. It takes great photos, is easy to use, and has been everything that I was looking for. Hope this helps.

I too have a Nikon that I absoluetely LOVE!! I have the Coolix P4 model, and Im not sure if this one is even available, but my sister has Nikon and loves it as well... Hopefully you wont have to get a new.... Good Luck!
