I am looking for a new camera. Currently I have a Nikon coolpix and I am not very happy with my pictures. I recently purchased a Cannon SX260 which I can return within 30 days. I bought it without researching as I just wanted to try a Cannon as I heard they were a good camera. So now I've tried this camera and really enjoy it. I did also check out the Cannon website and at which time I got very confused. I am not a photographer and know nothing about cameras but want a nice one to take great photos. Any help with suggestions are appreciated. I have looked at the G series, SX series, ELPH series and just not sure which one to choose. I would like a small camera which i can put in my purse rather than a large EOS but would love an EOS for the qualities. Hopefully before Christmas I will have a new camera so any advice will make my decision easier.

What can I do next?

I have a Cannon but don't remember which one it is but I love it. Everyone says they are the best overall. I have one that doesn't fit in my purse but you can add attachments to it if you wanted to buy them and do serious photography. I would stay with the Cannon, whichever one you get.

I highly reccommend an Olympus Stylus Tough. I have the highest end ($300-400), 2 of my relatives each have the next model down ($200) and child has the next model down ($120-150 ish) (I would not go lower than the 3rd model down). This camera is water proof to like 10 feet and drop proof from about 6 feet. Mine has been in rivers, oceans, gulfs, water parks, swimming pools for the last 3 years or maybe 4. I have taken thousands of pictures. It has rechargable litium battery.

I hadn't ever had a digital that could fit in my pocket because quality of the picture was more important to me than the camera size. I know lots of people with lots of different cameras and just was not impressed with the photo's. Not that they were all terrible, they just weren't great. So, I had no plans to buy a little camera. Then a friend got this one (1030SW) and wow, oh wow! Now I have one too! I don't think you can go wrong with these! Just remember, don't go with the lowest models, they are made of plastic and are not as good. I would go as high on the models as you can afford - and also do a lot of searching for deals and best prices. I think I got one at BuyDig dot com, but all of them I searched and waited on sales!

You enjoy the camera you just bought. Why are you still shopping for a camera. Are there features that this one doesn't have that you want or features this one has that you don't want? That would help in finding a different camera.

I suggest it would help to write down a list of the features you want and go to a camera store and ask for help.

The Panasonic Lumix line is wonderful. We have had several over the years. I have no idea which exact model we have at the moment but it's fairly new.
It's a really good camera and takes great video too. The one we have now takes 3D pictures and HD video and a few other "bells and whistles".
They come highly rated but aren't too pricey. I always keep mine in my purse, it's pretty small. I only use my phone for super random "gotta grab it fast" shots when I'm out and use the Panasonic for anything important or good.
My husband is a photographer and is picky about cameras and this met with his approval.
Costco always has really good deals on them.
