I saw Mamapedia has a deal on Boys Life Magazine. I was thinking it might make a nice gift for my cousin's son, but I have girls so this is a little out of my league. I read online that this is the magazine of Boy Scouts. I don't believe her son is a Boy Scout so would the magazine be lost on him? What would you say the ideal age for the magazine is?

My nephew is a Scout and receives it, and he's 10. I've read it and would say it's geared to about a 10 year old, and it really pertains to scouting and boys.
totally geared toward Scouting....events & achievements. It is positive & uplifting, but definitely Scouting-oriented....even the ads. My son's working toward Eagle Scout....& has been reading it since he was about 9 or 10, maybe earlier since his brother used to be a Scout, too.

Boys Life is about scouting - adventure, life saving skills, boys who did heroic acts, troops that hiked the Grand Canyon (one issue), outdoor things, questions and answers - it is geared for boys who are in the Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts. When my boys first started Scouting - they skimmed through the magazine - now? They read it cover to cover when it comes in.
One month they had an article on rocks, next snakes, every month is a different topic. They have fictional stories. Jokes. Boy Stuff.
I don't think it would be lost on him - but if he's not an outdoor boy - he might not be interested in it.

This is a great magazine. It's definitely geared toward scouts. It he's not a scout and likes outdoor activities - this magazine may encourage him to join. My son is 15 and just now feels he's outgrown it. He's been reading it since he was probably 6 or 7.
