I accidentally bought a detergent meant for HE/front loading washers and I was wondering if I can still use the detergent in my top loading washer? Do I need to use a different amount? Thanks!

What can I do next?

It would be bad if it was the other way around. Actually this soap is more efficent, so you don't need as much. In the lid you only fill it about half way. It should be like half of a shot glass. You mistake actually saved you money and gives better quality.

Look into a clothes cleaning machine that attaches to your
present washer that doesn't need detergent.

I did the same thing a few weeks ago! I ended up using it and it worked just fine.

Like Nora P, I think you should call the manufacturer's toll-free number. I don't believe you need to use twice as much detergent, though. The point of the HE detergent is that it's ultra-concentrated so it doesn't suds as much. Using the amount specified on the bottle probably will clean your clothes just fine.

GO ahead and use it. My theory is that there is really not much difference btw the two. The newer washers need less detergent. But the detergent manufacturers don't want to lose sales....so voila! a new detergent for the new washers at a new price! I use these detergents interchangeably and never fill the detergent tray in my washer more than 1/2 - 2/3 full with either. It works fine. I have the big front loading whirlpool type of washer (a duet).

Of course you can use it. It is made for front loaders b/c they do not require a lot of soap to get the job done and risk problems if too much soap is put in there. It is fine to use HE in other washers as it is more concentrated though and you do not need to use as much as normal.

I am pretty sure you just double the amount. BUT to be sure just call the number on the bottle and ask them. They'll let you know and may even send you coupons for the right detergent.

You can use it in your top loader, just use a bit more than what is recommended for the HE washer. I sell Shaklee products and our HE detergent can be used for either machine. I would imagine that is the case for what you bought, too.
