I am on a low-dose pill, Yaz to be exact. And, I am keep having cramping. The cramping is only on one side when it happens and it hurts. I am not sure if this is from the hormones of the pill or because, sometimes I don't take the pill at the time that I am supposed to. But, the thing is, the cramping happens even if I do take the pill at the designated time. Maybe it's because I have only been on Yaz for almost 3 months and I had to switch pill brands when, I moved because I had no insurance? I don't know though. Is this normal? Has/does this happen to anyone else? What should I do if this is a problem?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thank you all for your suggestions and advice. I will be following up on my doctor with this within the next week. She said she's pretty sure that it's the birth control that I am on.

I've never liked birth control pills for that reason. I've always gotten bad side effects from them. Birth control effects everyone differently, but the only one that works well for me is the Ortha Evra patch. Except for the time I stopped wearing it and got pregnant, it's the only bc that had minimum side effects and works very well.

Try a different bc and see if that works better for you.

If the pain is only on one side, I would recommend that you go to the doctor. I wouldn't think that the pain was from the pill, I would think it was something more to do with your body. Usually when the pill causes problems, it causes them bilaterally. If pain is unilateral, it's usually indicative of an internal problem. PLEASE talk to your doctor about this!!

You said you're only cramping on one side. Is it the same side every time? If so, it may not be the pill itself that's causing the cramping, but the hormone shifts the pill causes aggravating an underlying problem with either the ovary or fallopian tube on that side.
It may be that hormone-based birth control is not agood option for you. I tried every pill on the market and had problems with all of them, including failure. Depo-Provera damn near killed me, and with the Nuva-Ring, I had so much breakthrough bleeding that it was like a constant light period.
I found that the best option for me was condoms and spermicide - it's not as convenient, but it also has no side effects.
Talk to your doctor.

Though I don't know much about the pill, I don't think your body is handling it well. I took Ortho try cyclen for a month or so..then started having the Depo shot. I loved it because I didn't have to remember to take a pill. Also, I didn't have a period at all! No cramping except for about 24 hrs. after the shot and it was very light. Hope this advice helps!
