so; i have a 2 year old son. by the time i found out i was preg; the father and i had not talked for a few months and i had lost his contact info. after i had my son i didnt really care to track the father down so until he was 1.5yrs old it was just him and i. i was recieving TCA and in order to continue that; child support got involved. so there was a DNA test done and my sons father pays child support and since has become a huge part of our sons life. but given the situatuion his father is not on his birth cirt. and him and i would both like him to be; but now that our son is 2; i dont know how to go about getting that done. PLEASE HELP :) (ive tried calling the dept. of vital records and was unable to get thru to a PeRsOn, and ive looked on their website and cannot find any info on that

I have been in a similar situation. The courthouse/ social services can't help you. You and father both have to go to department of vital records and fill out the paperwork. I can not remember if you have to bring the paternity results or not but its a good idea to just in case. There is a fee. And the new certificate is mailed to you in about a week or two. Since you are in Maryland I have no clue where the dept of vital records is located. I know VA's is in Richmond. Hope that helps!

Hi, M.:
Since you called your Department of Bureau and Vital statistics, go in person, or go to your local health department.

I amended my son's birth certificate for the time he was born. This listed it as a.m. but he was born in the p.m.

Good luck.

Call your county court house and ask the court clerk. They might be able to tell you how to go about doing this since it would be a court proceeding and not a birth certificate thing maybe.

Go to the court house or town hall.
Next time, please use sentences. Your post is hard to read.

I agree with Gamma G. Start with the court clerk. I think the dept of vital records just stores/retrieves them.
