What is the best "1st Year" keepsake birthday present you've seen or heard of? I'm NOT a keepsake kind of gal, my interest run much more to the practical ... however some direction here would be very much appreciated! Was it the proverbial silver spoon set? Framed keepsake? I'm so lost when it comes to this.

What can I do next?

I made both my kids a framed collage of pictures with them with their special somethings-later I even added some yarn from my daughter's blanket around the edges-it's so cute to see them napping, bathing, on the zoo train, etc etc with the blankie or stuffed animal!

For my children's first birthdays, I asked everyone who came to the party to bring them wishes instead of presents. We just went around in a circle, stated our dreams for the child and I wrote them in their journals. I've also seen this done where the guests are asked to bring a 3x5 postcard collage with their wish on it and those are put into an album for the child.
Good luck!

I have heard of mom's writing their child a letter that they save & give to them when they are 21! You let one person know about the letter so that in case something happens to you the child will still get it. You right to them about what you want them to know about life when they turn 21! I think it's a great idea, but if your not a keepsake person, may not be right for you.

I also think that ranger rick's animal baby magazine is great for little kids when they are younger. It can be found on the National wildlife website and is very reasonable!

Good luck with finding the right gift for you! - C.!
