Turning to my Mama friends for more advice. I am looking at starting up my own photography business and wanted to know if you have any tips for the best camera. I am looking at Digital SLR's but would consider something else if you had another suggestion. Also, any tips for when you started your business? Where do you order your props from? What lenses do you use most? Did you take any courses and if so, from where? Would you do it again?

Any advice is appreciated. Thanks Mamas!

I have a Nikon D70 and I love it!! It takes great pictures and it is so much fun!! I have 2 lenses one is a zoom and oh my is that fun, I just went to track and field for my twins yesterday and the girls can't believe how good the pictures look. My favorite is mommy it is so close up but you were far away. For my associates degree (to transfer to a 4 year school) one of the classes that I had to take was a fine arts class and I could take digital photography online and learned the different tricks for Adobe Photoshop and it was a fun class. Oh and I took it at a local community college.

Nikon Brand all the way, no question!

I just bought the Nikon D3100 and it's amazing although I'm not going into professional photography anytime soon.

But my parents have had their own very successful photography business for years and they only by Nikon. It's just the best!

I think it's the D70 that they shoot with but can't remember off hand.

I am currently doing the same thing!!
I just finished 2 Photography classes at the local community college. Intro to Photography and Photoshop. I am only going for a certificate in Photography. The next class that I sign up for will be Photography II. This class will show me how to properly use the digital cameras.

I am trying to decide between the Nikon D3100 and the Canon EOS Rebel T3i. I think I am leaning more towards the Nikon. It would be difficult for me to try and describe the pros and cons with both cameras. The best thing to do is look them up on the internet and see which one better fits what you are trying to do.

I have been experimenting with a Nikon. A friend of mine is also into Photography. I did a photoshoot with him. I really enjoyed experimenting with his Nikon. My cousin, who lives in another state is also into photography and she highly recommends the Nikon.

One of my professors also recommended the Nikon.

I wish you the best!!!

I've had Nikons and Canons. They're very close and people have their favorites, and personally I like Canons better. They have better lenses. But I'm talking about the L-lenses which are thousands of dollars. So if you're not going to spend thousands for each lens, then it's a matter of personal preference. If you can find people with the Nikon D3100 and the Digital Rebel, I'd try both and see. I use my kit lens as a walkaround and a 50mm f/1.4 for portraits.
