So What Happened?

I will not do the 17 day diet. I saw my friend do it and she has gained it all plus. Not into fad diets. Thank you though. Thanks for all the kind words. I am doing walking and kettlebell and stretch band. I tried the broomstick exercise last night. Amazing

first off 10 lbs in a month is a LOT - you should be really happy about that! i wonder if you don't have a lot of extra weight to go because i would be absolutely thrilled about that - seems to me like smaller people always seem to be more impatient about losing any extra weight :) so first off try to be happy about that because that is huge!

if you are already exercising every day and eating right there is a supplement that Dr. Oz says SEEMS to target belly fat - called chitosan. you can search dr. oz and belly fat and i bet the show would come up. he does not advocate it as a "diet pill" but says that if you are doing everything else already it can help target that belly fat specifically. might be worth some research!

Bottom line, the first place you gain it, will be the last place you lose it. Keep at it mama!

Congrats on losing 10 lbs! That is wonderful.
I have really liked Turbo Jam, particularly the Ab Jam video. It is 20 minutes and is challenging but doable. When I do it once a week, I notice good results; my abs feel tighter and look better, I walk taller.
I also have been doing the broom exercise as described by Riley. I have been doing it 3 times a week for 15 min each time and then I hula hoop another 15 min. I have noticed that doing my ab exercises is 10 times harder lately, so the broom exercise must be working something!
Keep doing what you are doing. Drink a lot of water. Make sure you are getting exercise in. I am sure you will start noticing results soon. I think I have heard it takes about 8 weeks to start really seeing visible results. I also have heard that the belly fat is the last to go, so stick with it.

Hi S., I noticed on your profile that you are 39.. that said, hormones may be hindering your efforts in losing belly fat. I have recently begun reading a book by Dr. Vliet, whose specialty it is dealing with hormones and how they can affect a woman's health. You may already know that when Estradiol levels fall off , we tend to then lean more towards the hormone Progesterone. With this happening, amongst other things such as stress and the release of Cortisol, we can become more insulin resistant and therefore it can become very difficult to lose the belly fat. This, no matter how much work you put into it.. Additionally, the Luteal (the portion of our cycle right after we ovulate) can especially become a difficult time to lose weight as the effects of being Progesterone dominant cause us to crave sweets, feel sluggish and sometimes foggy minded.
I mention all this because you may want to get your hormones checked to see what stage you are in when it comes to your hormone levels. Could be you are Perimenopausal.. Also, not only does Estradiol drop off, but so does Testosterone.. (as you may know, it's essential in building muscle) As we age, due to the drop in this hormone, it also makes building muscle more difficult which in turn, means less fat is being burned.

I mention all this stuff not to derail your efforts but to assure you it's NOT in your head and your having a tough time is not uncommon for women. Consider checking out one of Vliet's books, for example >>(screaming to be heard) I found the information so helpful. I am 47 and have had my own issues with hormones, body fat and a myriad of other things. Now that I am reading this book, it's been such an eye-opener. I would recommend it to any woman, no matter what age..

I wish you the best of luck.. also, despite not getting the result as quickly as you would like, keep up your efforts... belly fat or not.. exercising is a GREAT thing..

good luck!!

Just keep going! We can't pick where our bodies shed fat ( oh how I wish ) just tone the area with plank and crunch movements and do cardio and eventually your hard work will show there too.

Staying away from processed food is a good trick to help not add more weight there, but targeting fat loss is just not possible.

Try Jillian Michaels 6 pack abs in 6 weeks. It is a tough workout but worth it. You might just need to change up your workout or kick it up a notch.

Ab-slide--hurts but it works. Seriously I have one and the instructions tell you to only use it for 3 minutes the first few times. If your abs are really in bad shape only use it for a minute or less. Build up your reps with it and you will see a difference in about 2 weeks.

I know they are difficult to find now but I just saw one at a Play It Again Sports yesterday.

This is my suggestion Get off Weight wathcer go spend your money on what will definately work get a book called 17 day diet it not only helps with outer fat but viseral fat which is fat from the inside. To start before buying the book cut your whites out no white wheat no white rice no refined sugars. All those is cause of viseral fat. Walk at a high speed walk two to once a day if you can twice good do twice at 17 mins if you cant do one 40 min walk 2 miles. Do 300 situps 60 5 different ways you need to work your top abs bottom abs and obliques and the in between it will take 6 months but you will notice after 6 days a week of walking and ab work with in 3 months your abs shrinking nothing happens over night it didn't take belly fat to get there over night. I am fighting the same thing you are after 11 years of having babies and eating wrong so i understand just go get the book 17 day diet and send wait watchers bub bye!!!
