At what age did your baby know where his/her eyes, ears, mouth, nose, etc were? And how did you teach them? Thanks!

What can I do next?

She knew all her body parts by a little over a year. From head and hair to toes and feet and everything in between.
I found this book in the dollar section at Target by accident. It was a sesame street board book, and was really cute and it rhymed. It was about eyes, nose fingers toes or something like that. I just kept reading it to her because I liked it. She just started picking up on them. We added the body parts that weren't in the book like after she got the basics down.
It was all by accident. =)

I was teaching my kids that from 1 years old.
They would then point to it.
I had kiddie books, those board book types. That have photos of it of pictures.

They both started being able to point to those before a year, could say and point all of them by age 2.

That head shoulders knees and toes song is very helpful.

I think around one year is when my twins started to point to the body parts. It wasn't many, though. I wasn't very good about showing them, but it's pretty easy. As you talk to your little one, just ask questions like, "Where's baby's nose? There it is!" Just do a little each day as part of conversation and soon enough he/she will know them.

I "taught" my daughter since she was born just by talking. Every time she'd touch my face I'd say, "Mommy's eyes... Nose... Mouth..." And I'd touch her nose and say, "Nose, nose, nose." Things like that just start sticking eventually. I also sang Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes to her A LOT!

I agree with everyone else. About a year old for the younger daughter (older for the older daughter). We had books she loved, but also simply talking and playing with her while talking. We would "ding" earlobes and "blatt" the soles of her feet, and her abdomen/tummy, while she howled with laughter.

However, the younger was a very verbal little girl. Boys generally speak later (generally), and some kids just are not very verbal until later and it is no reflection what-so-ever on intelligence.

My son just started really doing it about a month ago- when he was about 18 months old. We literally just point to everything. "where's my nose", "these are my eyes", "where's your ears?"

C.,
I had fun teaching my kids their body parts. I started when they were old enough to sit up on their own. The easy parts are on the face, but hands and feet, fingers and toes are good, too. For parts of the face I would sometimes put my finger on my own eye, say "eye," then touch his eye and repeat "eye."

Another way you can do it is say, "I'm going to kiss your nose!" Then kiss her nose. You can do this with cheeks, ears, forehead, tummy, hands and feet. Or say, "I'm going to eat your fingers!" And make funny sounds as you 'munch' them with your lips (think Cookie Monster).

The important thing to remember is to keep it fun and like a game. Enjoy teaching your baby! And take lots of video. I wish I had done that more.

Blessings,
N.
