The Eastern Seaboard has been going through some heat this past few days and it's only going to get hotter.

Are you prepared?
Do you have a back up plan if you lose electricity?
Do you have water?

Please be safe!! Make sure you're prepared. I hope you don't lose electricity or have any issues.

What can I do next?

well, we've got the pool (which is deliciously warm right now) and a generator, but it's not really equal to running the A/C along with appliances.

my worry is more for the horses. i'll have them in their stalls during the day with fans on, but it'll still hit over 90 in the shade. and i won't be home today to hose them off. poor girls.

it'll be pure hell for road crews and anyone who has to be outside. nora roberts is having a booksigning today (i work at her gift shop, next door to her book store) so the crowds will throng the sidewalk. we'll be plying people with water and mister bottles and inviting them into the air conditioning in the shop.

i'm a summer girl and love the heat, but even for me this is going to be challenging weekend.

Near Chicago here. It's 93 with the dew point at around 80, so it feels like 112. It's just atrocious. I needed a cooling station in my driveway just to walk out to retrieve the trash cans from the street after pickup, lol. Honestly, it's no laughing matter though, and our town is setting up multiple cooling places and trucks to go around collecting people and handing out water. Tomorrow is actually supposed to be worse! We have plenty of water and plan on going to my parents if the ac zonks out. I can't wait until it cools down to 85!

We're as prepared as we can be.
We always have water on hand for hurricane preparations.
We're suppose to get to 99 over the weekend with a heat index of 115.

I'm also babysitting my neighbors chickens over the weekend and I'm doing what I can to keep them cool - shade, ice cubes in their water, frozen treats, etc.

I think this is a first for us. We here in Georgia aren't suffering right now. We are in the 80's with our normal humidity.

We have a pool to "escape" to as well as a motor home should we lose electricity.

We have the RV recently filled with fresh water and checked the batteries to ensure all is well and the generator too.

Hope you and yours are okay!

We’re working in the Richmond area this week. Good grief! Heat index is 120 today. I’m used to hot (from Texas) but this is something. I was hoping it would be cooler here.

Staying hydrated and trying to limit outside exposure. Running to get parts today was draining. 😎

We are used to it in TX. This is the first year since I recall that we ave not been in a drought situation and the water police running around. I've not turned my sprinklers on yet! My water bill is around $70 and in the summer I am accustomed to $500+!!

We have not hit 100 yet with temps but our index has been 111+.

Sometimes I will run a small sprinkler from my hose for the birds to cool off. They flock when they see it so I know it is appreciated.

I keep water on hand routinely for emergency purposes.

If you want to cool off around here, go eat out at a restaurant.. It is FREEZING so bad that even in past summers, I have to take a sweater with me when I go eat out. CRAZY!

I hope everyone stays safe, cool and well hydrated! Watch after those pets as well!!
