My kids are off school today so I am too at home with them for the Holiday. Are your kids off school or is today becoming a less celebrated holiday?

Our kids had a half day on Friday so that teachers could prepare report cards. But today they are in school, hubby is at work, the banks are open and the mail is running. I don't think today is becoming a less celebrated holiday, because in MOST places... today is NOT a holiday. Instead it's predominantly an Illinois holiday.... what with having the largest Polish population in the US. I only know about it because I used to live in Chicago.

My children's school is in session and we are in IL today. We are one of the FEW districts in IL that does have school today. But they also have school on Veteran's Day. Their school does, however, have 1 half day a month (Friday) off - I hope the teachers get this off too, otherwise they would be missing out on two holidays per year!
