Anyone Ever Heard of This?

I know that many people have wrote similar things to this, but just to put in my experience, 2 months after I stopped breastfeeding, my neice started crying, & I started leaking. I got scared & called my mom, who breastfed me & my sisters all until about 14 months old, and she said that she would leak milk for about a year after stopping each time. I actually just noticed some leakage again myself today, and now it has been 6 months since I stopped breastfeeding. I guess every woman has a different experience, but it's comforting to know it's not just me. :) PS I also started leaking milk at about 12 weeks pregnant & some moms I know said they didn't start to see any until their baby was born! I guess you never know.... Best wishes!

I did the same thing and went to see my gynocologist who imformed me it was nothing. Some women will have sporatic letdown and milk leakage. I had it happen for 7 1/2 years after I stopped nursing, but I had a bilateral breast reduction 5 months ago, so that is why I stopped lactating. You are probably leaking milk in the pediatricians office because another baby (probably and infant) was crying, right? With me it would be so bad that I would soak my shirt, my gyn. thought it was so funny, that is because it wasn't happening to him. LOL Anyway talk to your gyn., he or she will probably tell you it is nothing to worry about. Hope I put you at ease.

I breastfed my son for 9 months. And for almost a year after I stopped, if I squeezed my nipple, especially my right one (it always "worked" better then my left) it would express milk. You just haven't noticed it before.

I get that pulling feeling too every so often.

I have no clue what's up with that. Alls I know is, I had one child three years ago and my body is still so out of wack!

Are you on any new medications? Maybe something for depression or postpartum? When I was in college I was on an anti-depressant (can't remember the name) and it caused lactation. Very embarrassing as it came on unexpectedly one day and I leaked right through my shirt at dinner. Everyone thought I was pregnant and hadn't told anyone. I had never even been pregnant! When I spoke to my doctor I was told that was a side-effect and that was the end of that medication! It still took about a month and a half for the leaking to stop completely. If you are taking any new meds in the last couple of months, even since having the baby, look very closely into the side-effects, even the rare ones. Lactation was very rare for the drug I was on (like 1 in a million) so it wasn't a concern my doctor told me about and, sure enough, and I got it.

Hi R., i'm a mom and grandma My last child i decided to breast feed and like you i felt the same thing but the doctor then told me that when you breast feed the baby gets attach to you more then ever so when he or she are hungry you will feel it throught your breast but you know back then doctors knew more thwen now, now is a money thing so don't worry its just that believe me it happen to me. And in a way its kind of fun knowing when the baby is hungry This will last for awhile. Keep me posted

it's funny/ironic that this is the post that was up today when I logged in. I stopped nursing 7 months ago but I've noticed that I still have milk if I squeeze my nipples. However, (here's the irony) this morning I woke up with a very sore breast. My right boob hurts terribly. So I squeezed it and there is a ton of liquid in there. Remember how your breasts would feel if it was time for a feeding. That's how it feels...like a full boob. But my period just ended Fri, I had sex yesterday and sincerely doubt I'm pregnant or would show signs of pregnancy already. Keep us updated!

even though i haven't dealt with this personally, i would have to agree with the other moms. my mother had the same problem. she breastfed my brother, and she would leak until he was about 9 yrs old (even though she stopped when he was around 1). she said that it was always around babies that were crying (most likely to be fed.) once her friends stopped having children, the leaking stopped (since she really wasn't around babies for at least 5 yrs after that). so i guess this is just a normal thing for certain women. my mother says that women that go through this, IF they were around back in the days when some women just didn't make it through childbirth because of the lack of proper medical knowledge/treatment (and no option of formula), they would've been the women that wound up feeding the babies who couldn't be fed by their mothers. it may not be something you would have to do at this day and age, but it still makes u special.(at least that's how i see it)

I breastfed at the beginning when my daughter was first born and then she got the bottle and she prefered the bottle. But months later my breast would still leak a little...i don't know what the reasoning is but it does happen....

My son was born 5 years ago and even though I didn't breast feed him, sometimes my breasts leak, especially when I give myself a breast examine. I spoke to my doctor about this, and she said that it's probably because I am stimulating the breast and that's it normal and nothing to worry about.

So now I don't worry, especially since I can't have any more children. Don't worry, it's probably nothing to worry about.
