I just started attending a Zumba class 3 times a week and will bump to 4 times this week. I absolutely love it...and didn't realize it would be such a great overall workout. I was so sore after the first two classes..more sore than after running half marathons. Just wondering if anyone else out there in mamapedia land Zumbas..and what you think?? How long have you been doing it?? What results have you seen??

Thanks!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

It was so good to hear your "testimonials" of Zumba and from those of you wanting to join the Zumba bandwagon. I feel the same way as many of you mentioned..."Don't start the cool down yet...just one more song please...pretty please!!" I have never felt that way doing another form of exercise. I enjoy running..but even with the endorphins pumping after 7,8,9 miles I am looking at mile markers and checking my watch. Zumba is so much fun. It is like a dance class.

Keep it up ladies...or for some of you that have some inhibitions..put it aside and do it!! There are ladies of all sizes, shapes and ages in my class. You are so focused on yourself getting the best workout and on the instructor that you aren't looking at anyone else...and they ain't looking at you. I put on my little jingly Zumba wrap around skirt over my shorts and try to get it shaking as much as I can. move over Shakira!! (J/K!!)

I am amazed how quickly my curves are toning an smoothing out and my clothes are fitting loosely...today I have to use a belt. Wow!! I told my hubby that for the first time ever...I am actually excited about swimsuit weather. Sure...I sport cute suits and love lounging by our pool but I always feel a little self body image issues. I will be kicking arse next summer in my suit!!! Now I just need to figure out how to blow up my boobs back to the way they were in the good ol' days. That is another post!

I just bought the DVD's so I can try it at home. I'd be too embarrassed to fall over in front of a class when I inevitably trip on my feet while I'm getting the hang of it. Plus, I can't do as much yet as everyone else.

I'll let ya know how it goes! (Let's hope I don't break a hip!)

It's addictive. I have lost real weight and inches doing it. Instead of checking the clock every 5 minutes to see how much longer I have to stay on the treadmill it's more like - wow - that was an hour already! My good friend has taken off well over 80 lbs and kept it off for over a yr. Only change she made was adding Zumba 4 times a week and drinking water instead of anything else.

I got the game for my Xbox then started and realized my knees can't take it unless I get a mat to workout on. I will get back to you on this.

My ten year old loves it. :) Then again she is a bean pole so if you take anything away there is nothing left.

I'm not gonna lie. I am a life long exerciser of all types. I did not try Zumba for the longest time at my gym assuming it was silly and too easy. Finally one night a took a class. NOW I'M SO HOOKED! It's SO fun!!! SO FUN, that even if I cant' motivate to get to the gym and lift weights and use the boring treadmill etc, I can always just "Get there and get into class and have fun" It's the BEST toning and shaping with all the awesome belly dancing and abs stuff for waist along with everything else. I know several moms who lost all their baby weight doing zumba even if they hated exercising in general. I'm amazed at how toned I feel when I do a few classes in a week. I've done it for about a year 2 to 3 times per week to easily keep in shape. If I slack off or put on weight, a good 6 classes in two weeks gets me right back in shape and then some. I'm with Tracy K, instead of feeling like the minutes are endless on the treadmill, you feel like, "Please, just one more song, one more song! Darn, an hour already?"
Take a class, Dawn! They are very cool and "Don't worry about getting it right, just keep moving and have fun". There are all types and fitness levels in there! You would be surprised how quick you catch on.

I took about 4 classes over the summer when I was traveling, then bought the DVD - which I enjoy. Having the DVD means I work out 5 days a week rather than the once or twice I was able to do before. I've dropped about 7 pounds since Labor Day by doing Zumba and counting my calories (last 3 weeks I've been very bad about calorie counting, though, so I have not lost a pound in November).

My son's school is going to start offering a 1x per week class and I have signed up. I really liked the class, although I'm not particularly coordinated.

Enjoy!
