I took my 10 yr old DD shopping for flip-flops last night as last years are total goners.
While walking down the aisle, she took my hands and said, "Mom, thanks for having me. Thank you for making me. I am so happy to be with you."

Having come from an extremely abusive home, that was confirmation enough that I"m doing things better.

Please share your sweet moments too.

So What Happened?

Veronica, that was the sweetest laugh I've had in a long time. Did you say you love him back too, from one cyclops to another?

My kids have been with their dad for the last 6 1/2 weeks, but several times before they left my daughter would come up behind me in the kitchen or when getting ready in the bathroom and rest her chin on my shoulder (she's 14 and taller than I am) and would say "I love you mom." I would respond with I love you too. She would say, "but I love you more." She always had the sweetest determined tone in her voice. I would tell her that it's not possible to love me more than I do her. In a very soft voice, she would respond, "but I do."

my oldest who is almost 16 came up to me last night ( well early this morning) when I got home from work and gave me the biggest longest hug I have gotten from him in a long time. He just kept on holding me tight and after about a 5 min hug he said "I love you so much mom, just wanted to let you know". I told him " I love you to Buckwheat, thank you for waiting up for me, it means alot."

as he was walking away he turned around and said.. "It was worth it, I realize now Im never to old to hug you." :)

My son snuggled really close to me, forehead to forehead, nose to nose, to where your eyes cross and the other person looks like he has only one eye and said in the sweetest voice, "I love you, Cyclops."

ETA: You know it! And I've said it several times since!

Last night my daughter was making the hug and kiss rounds (on this night it involved the cats and various plushies) I was getting a little short on patience. She comes to me after her rounds, her arms out for a hug and I reminder her that she's hugged me already and now it was time to get in bed. She informed me that it wasn't for me, it was for the baby. She had me lift my shirt and she then hugged and kissed my belly.

I was very sick the week before last with strep throat. I couldn't eat, drink, swallow, sleep, nothing. Then last week we were on vacation. Last night I was just not hungry for dinner so I was in the living room while my husband and kids were eating at the table (it's a big great room).

My 5 year old asked if I wasn't eating because my throat hurt again. Before I could even answer, all 3 of them were up and making me hot tea and a bowl of ice cream :). It was so sweet after the rough day I had!

My seven year old son gave me a big hug last week, hugged me again, and then said "you're my favorite person to hug." After having a rough day, that was just the motivation I needed to get out of my funk. I love those sweet, honest moments that just make you melt.

My daughter (almost 5) tells me that she loves me 'All way way to China, to Darwin's house (her cousin in Colorado) and to the moon and back!'

DD woke up this AM and said, "I'd like to hear the good morning song" and then snuggled in close while I sang my stupid little good morning song 3 times.

My daughter (6) will hold her arms out to me - she made up a new word because she wants to Cuggle with me (hug and snuggle).
Edit - for your abusive family - you WIN! They lose.
You are obviously raising an awesome daughter.

I got back from the hair cut place with a terrible haircut. I was more than bummed. I had wanted shoulder length hair and long layers. Some how the "long" got lost in translation and I ended up with a choppy really short haircut that I hated. I was talking with my husband when he got home from work and telling him how it happened and that I hated it etc.

My six year old boy was listening and he looked me in the eye and said, "Mom, you look like the girl in Tangled after she gets her hair cut and she's a princess so you look like a princess too."

It was the sweetest thing ANYONE could have said and instantly made me feel better and changed my outlook on the hair cut. While I don't love it, I have learned to embrace it and it's not so bad. :o)

Hi! My son works a summer concert series The concert Saturday night was Kenny Loggins. I was crushed I couldn't go. About 9PM my phone rings, it's the boy. "Listen", he says.
Christopher Robin and I walked along
Under branches lit up by the moon
Posing our questions to Owl and Eeyore
As our days disappeared all too soon....
My rude, obnoxious 19 year old made sure I got to listen to one of favorite songs. How did he know it was coming? He checked out the playlist onstage before the show. This old mommy cried through the whole thing.

I told my 3 year old son the other day that he made my heart so happy, and he said "You make my heart, my circle, my triangle and my square so happy." He is so awesome.
