Ok i have a soon to be 7 month old. He sits and rolls and is a ball of fun. He has gotten into the crawling position a few times but would rather stand and so now thats all he wants to do. He trys to pull up on everything he can reach which is funny and exciting. I was wondering what are some good solid things that he could pull up on. I am a worry wort and am afraid he will crash and hurt himself soi dont have the coffee table in here anymore. He has a push toy put it sometimes comes out from under him. I want to encourage him as much as possible but he gets frustrated bc theres not alot he can pull up on. Any Ideas? I really dont want to buy every toy possible we have enough. What is around the house that i could be utilizing.
Thanks everyone for the advice. our couch is a little to high for him to get a good hold on and we have a stationary jumper mwhich he likes but is getting tall for. It wasnt until i read the post about the door way jumper till my brain clicked. We have one from when my 2 yo was little so its coming outta storage and we will give it a try. other than going out and buying bubble wrap LOL I guess i will be next to him and chasin the older one till he gets it down. Dont be so afraid! Get some safety first thingys (rubber edges and rubber corners) so he wont bump is head or anything... the best things in life are free... and babys feel that way too! Thats way they'd rather play with the box than with the actual toy! Heavy chairs are great, sofa's, etc! Good luck!!!
The couch is the best option! Your lil' guy sounds like my daughter, she was walking at 8 mos...so brace yourself:)

I think you can let him pull himself up on the couch. It is sturdy and you don't have to worry about him being able to move it, because he can't. The bed might also be a good idea. When he's in his crib, he can pull himself up also. Just make sure you adjust the height of the mattress. I'm a worry wort as well. As natural. We wanna make sure that they don't hurt themselves. The latest on brain development and learning is saying that "failure" is just as important as success.
I get it that you don't want your tiny one to crack his skull on the coffee table, but a couple tiny tumbles into mama's nearby hands during his daily exploration is probably a *good* thing.
At 7 mo. just stick with him while he's having floor time, let him struggle on the things you already have around the house, and be there when he biffs. (No texting or phone calls when your little climber is on the ground :)

You could get a bumper that goes around the coffee table. My DD used the table more than anything when she was learning to walk (she started pulling herself up and cruising when she was 5 months old, but she didn't walk until 9 months)... I never did do the bumper, and she was OK. She did knock her head a couple times, but not hard enough to make me worry too much. But they do make a variety of bumpers... you can either do just the corners, the entire edge, I have even seen ones that are a giant bungee looking thing that covers the whole thing! lol.
I took the coffee table out too. He has been pulling himself up on the couch and walking along the book cases. I figure in another month or so he will be walking and a couple more he will be an expert and I will bring the coffee table back.
They learn to fall on their bottoms when they are trying to stand up. Just wait until he really starts walking. They walk right into walls! Sound crazy but it happens. There are special pads you can buy for coffee tables and fireplaces.
