Hello Moms. I have been contemplating on purchasing the Turbo Jam Workout with Chalene Johnson. Has anyone had great success with this series of DVD workouts? I need to lose about 50lbs and looking for another method besides journaling and counting my calories.

What can I do next?

Hello R.,

I have the Turbo Jam series and I love it! The routines are fun and the music is great! I actually look forward to working out with these dvd's! Another great thing that comes with these dvd's is access to "WOWY", which is like an online gym. You log on when you do your workouts, and you can chat and "work out" with others who are doing Turbo Jam and other Beachbody workouts. You can win daily prizes just for logging your workouts, and it's a great way to stay accountable. I have not lost a bunch of weight yet, because I haven't mastered portion control :) but I can can tell my body is changing & my clothes fit differently. My stamina has also improved. I know this is a long reply, but Turbo Jam has really kept me motivated to keep pushing play. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions-and maybe I'll see you on "WOWY" someday!

Have a great day!

Hi R.. I actually take calls for Beachbody and although I have not tried Turbo Jam myself...I get calls everday from people that are purchasing the Turbo Jam just because they had a friend, co-worker, or family member that had such great results with it. If you call...I can tell you ahead of time that there will be some upsells that will be offered to you at discount prices. You are not obligated to taking advantage of the offers...but they will be offered.
If you just say "no" when they start talking about them...they will just move on to the next until it is finished. They do have to offer them. They are not things that you have to have to get results...but you get better results with them.
Hope this helps. I am not trying to sell you anything...I take calls for a lot of companies. This just happens to be one that I take calls for...and knew something about. I hope this helps.

Also...the P90X is another good one that I have great feedback from.
Good Luck!!!

I have the turbo jam series and love them. It has different workouts so you can ease yourself into at your own pace. The workouts are hard but fun. I really felt like I got back into shape and had a whole lot more energy. I feel they are definitely worth it!

I LOVE turbo jam! I have used it since August and you will watch yourself melt away. I actually just got her new weight training series Chalean Extreme for Christmas and cannot wait to start using it (I injured my thumb the first week of January and cannot lift weights until doc says it's ok....bummer). However, for QUICK weightloss/"inchloss" I definitely recommend that you use cardio and turbo jam is a GREAT one! Just remember, as you begin to see weight fall off, you have to increase your resistance to keep your body working hard.... For example, when you lose 10 lbs., that's 10 lbs less that your body has to fight against, so add some ankle and wrist weights to help give back the resistance..... just know your body and know your limits. YOU CAN DO IT!

I have never seen Turbo Jam, but I can tell you that the Pilates series is awsome. You cant do too much in the beginning because you will feel as though you've been run over by a Mac Truck. Talk about a workout!!!! I think you should do what you enjoy and are comfortable with.
I, too, am overweight. I just recently (Nov) joined a gym and aquired a trainer. I feel just as "worked out" after Pilates as I do a session with him...(The Human Torture Machine!!) Good Luck in finding what works for you...I've been at it for a few months and have lost almost 5% body fat!!! Yeah!!! (of course, it hurts to sit here and type, wink, wink)

I don't know anything about the Turbo Jam Workout series, but I too am on the quest to lose weight. I found a wonderful workout group that is free in Cedar Park/ Leander. The ladies who run this group are both certified fitness instructors and have a heart to help women become healthy. The group is called Temple Dwellers, they are hosted by Lakeline church. They meet on Mondays (strength and core class) at Elizabeth Milburn Park and Thursday (kickboxing class) at Central Baptist. FMI: go to the www.lakeline.com and click on fitness groups

I have not used Turbo Jam, but I have used Tae Bo with Billy Blanks and I loved it.

Also if you have cable there are a lot of workout shows on Fit Tv. I find I get bored with the same workout video, so recording a number of these with my DVR lets me choose and I don't get bored.

Although for the past 1 1/2 years I have been taking a belly dance class. There is also a show on Fit TV called Shimmy which is a belly dance workout, but I highly recommend taking a group class because learning the proper technique is so important to prevent injury.

This past year I have ;pst 35 lbs with Weight Watchers and belly dancing. Just though I'd share what is working for me. I'm sure you will find what will work for you!!

I have about 25 more lbs to go hopefully before September!!

Good luck!

I have not tried Turbo Jam yet but have thought about it myself. It looks like alot of fun and I have to enjoy a work out or won't do it for long. I did the Billy Blanks Tie Bo work out after my first baby and had great results very quickly. It was really hard the first time or two but after that I seemed to get the hang of it and really liked it and felt tough during and after my workout.:-) I think turbo jam would be a great work out because when I was younger the only exercise I got was going out dancing every night and I was super skinny. That was before kids and a hysterectomy but I ate like a pig, didn't work out at all, and never gained an ounce. In fact, my family thought I was too skinny but I was extremely muscular and all I did was dance while out at the clubs. I think I am going to try Turbo Jam by renting it at the local movie rental place and check it out. I will let you know. Oh, I bought a "Gessell Glider" that guy with the long blonde advertises them on one of the shopping channels (don't remember which one) and I really like doing it because there is no impact on my knees and it wasn't very expensive...like $250.00 I think. Just thought this might help.

R.,

I have the turbo jam workout and I love it! The 45 minute cardio video is my favorite. I don't do it everyday because I like to go to the gym and run and left weights. Also the ab video is really good. I would recommend it! good luck on your weight loss.
