Any Pediatricians Who Aren't Pushy?

I'm looking for a pediatrician who is friendly and great with children and who also doesn't push vaccines. My son is 9 months old now and we want to bring him in for a check up. The pediatrician we signed with was great. She was friendly, made us laugh, listened to us and played with our son. The problem we had was that her nurse seemed to enjoy pushing us to make more appointments for vaccines. We didn't want to create any kind of issues so we just listened when she mentioned that our son will need vaccines and that they have autistic children though. It constantly came up in conversations. I would love to continue with her but being pressured doesn't make us feel good. I've been to Dr. Vanderzyl for yearly woman's checkup and loved him. He seems to be a great family doctor as well. He's a very gentle man. As far as vaccines go, I don't know how pushy his staff would be. I would just raither not stick mercury, aborted baby matter and other things into my son's body especially when I don't know how allergic he could be to them. I had a reaction to vaccines and don't want to risk it on him. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/jenny-mccarthy/whos-afraid-...

Does anyone recommend a pediatrician who isn't pushy?

Have you considered speaking to you present pediatrician and telling her what you just told us in this letter? It may be that things can be worked out and you wouldn't have to give up the pedi that you are already comfortable with.
Are you concerned about all vaccines or just certain ones? You really didn't make that clear. Just be as informed as you possibly can make yourself before deciding against them. I am not saying all vaccines are necessary but there are some that are safe and not having them could be catastrophic if you get the disease.

Are you looking to not vaccinate? Is that the reason? Or are you looking for a ped that's willing to do modified schedules?

You do realize that they have completely researched, and found that the vaccines in NO WAY causes autism? Autism is mostly genetic. If the child has a form of autism, it will show up with or without vaccines.

I hope you find the right ped for your family. You might want to talk to the doctor you mentioned, and ask him about his views, and those of his staff. You won't know unless you ask.

I find it strange that the nurses would bring up vaccines & autism at the same time. That part is a little odd. Did you talk to the ped about her nurse? She may not even realise that this is going on, and might be able to put a stop to it.

Good luck!

I don't know if you want to drive to Katy. But, we take our son to Cinco Ranch Pediatrics. Dr. Lentsch believes in vaccines - but as she told us "your child is not my child and you are the parents". So, she respects your decisions. They do ask you when you come in for your appointment and sometimes assume - the nurse will give you the standard sheet of what vaccines are typically given for that visit. But, all you have do is say "we're not doing vaccines today" and they are good.

I love my pediatrician at Town Center Pediatrics in Sugar Land. I don't know how pushy they are about vaccinations since my son had all his required vaccines. Although they did allow us to postpone one vaccine, and they do not push the flu shot.

I would suggest to talk to the office manager where your children currently go. Since you like the pediatrician but have a problem with the staff, the office manager should be able to help educate their staff. I would also suggest that you be up front with your pediatrician and their staff telling them how you feel about the vaccinations so that they will stop pushing the issue. It's hard to find good medical providers so if you like the one you have i would suggest to find a way to stick with them.

Good luck!
