This menu is from The American Academy of Pediatrics
The Complete and Authoritative Guide Caring For Your Baby And Young Child Birth to Age 5.

My girls were always on the petite side, so this was a lot of food to them. Every child is different. But it gives you an idea of what to work with. Take Care. Heidi
PS. I personally dont agree with the amount of juice. Seems like a lot to me. I suppose they are counting it as a fruit serving.

I don't know what about the Academy of Pediatrics menu ... but I feed my son fruit, vegetables, carbs and dairy every day. My son's typical sample day menu:
7am - 6oz formula
8:30 breakfast - eggs and cherio's, or
fruit and 1/2 whole grain blueberry waffle/pancake
10am - 6oz bottle
12pm lunch - fruit yogert and cracker, or
vegetables and cottage cheese
1:30pm - 6oz bottle
4pm snack - fruit or cracker
6pm dinner - vegetables and pasta & tofu, or
pureed whatever we are eating
8pm - bottle before bed

I do give him water after meals that he drinks from a straw. I haven't been too successful with sip cups. I have tried to give juice, but he isn't really interested if it isn't ice tea or water. Every day is different. Some days he eats more, some days he eats less. I just want to make sure that the diet is well balanced.

Hope this helps. I'm a 1st time mom too so I'm still adapting to new things each month. I think a lot of it is instinct and decisions based on what others say and what I read. Good Luck!

I do not have to much more to add than what others have said. At 11 months my daughter was eating just about everything. She loved eggs and crackers with hummus. Noodles with diced chicken or a little ground beef, tomatoes with vinegar, rice, all beans, she liked peas, and carrots cooked and mashed with butter and a dab of brown sugar. I never paid too much attention to books and what they "should" eat, to me it is a simple matter of common sense, and I am not about to measure out a quarter cup of yogurt! My daughter is three now and she is still one of the best little eaters and I think that is because I introduced her to everything but never forced her, but I did not shy away from herbs and spices within reason, note, she loves homemade salsa. Good luck:)

I give my baby slices of nectarine and banana, with oatmeal in the morning or sometimes a little egg and toast, chicken, tuna, or salmon, fresh veggies steamed or cooked, pasta, soups, beans or rice. She loves almost everything we eat and she doesn't even have any teeth yet at eleven and a half months. She is just breaking them right now. She just wants what we eat and baby food is becoming less desirable. She likes to try to feed herself too. Let your baby explore. It will be messy, but it will make your baby more independent and they are more adventurous when they do it themselves.

Boiled (no salt...) chicken diced up, firm tofu squares, egg, cheese, if you can find it low salt lunch meat turkey, although most have alot of other chemicals you don't need. Don't worry about teeth, they can gum it well.

I did a Mamasource request a little while back about feeding my baby solids. I read each response (got tons), took the answers I liked, and made a summary. It might have something helpful in it. It is here:

my son is 10mo (daughter is 2.5yrs)--both eat lots of fruits, veggies, and typically whatever we are serving for dinner. yogurt, cottage cheese, string cheese/cut pieces of cheddar/etc, cut fruits (nectarine, grape, banana, melons of all varieties, etc) all make great snacks & side dishes. hummus is a favorite, too. experiment and repeat things that get rejected the first time out--so far my daughter doesn't eat tofu or mashed potatoes (texture?), but loves everything from steamed mussels to sushi; i haven't found anything that my son won't eat yet! :) best of luck!

When my little one was around 11 months, I was pretty much feeding her everything off my plate or making her own small plate, but eating our food. Some of the tings that worked well most of the time are:
1. pasta- with red sauce or ground turkey in sauce. This also freezes well, so you can divide it into servings and freeze. This would also include mac and cheese
2. grilled cheese cut up in small bites
3. rice and peas
4. cooked chicken breast in small torn pieces
5 sweet potatoes
6. steamed frozen carrots cut up in small pieces
7. cous-cous with shreded carrots or zucchini

These are just some of the things I would feed her regularly. She is one and still eats this too. I suggest doing a google search for some infant meal ideas and you'll find a lot.

Not sure if you cook everynight but like all the other responses just give her little portions of everythng to try and don't get discouraged if she doesnt eat something always try again with the same food - Just like us we are not always in the mood for something so they are the same way just can't tell us yet- If you are afraid of her choking on the food they make a food net system and I used it with both my boys and they chew and suck the food out of the net for anyfood you want to put in it- I put fruit and meat and just about anything - If not then cut everything small and lots of fruits and veggies - I get the organic frozen mixed veggies and cook them in chicken broth and put them over small pasta and grated parmasan cheese that is just one of the things they love - I freeze the yogurt tubes and they LOVE those as a snack - good luck and don't give up just keep putting different things in front of her she will eat if she is hungry!
