Hello all, I have a fabulous 3 month old baby girl! Since she has been about 10 weeks, she has almost slept through the night (for about 6-8 hours) Lately, however, she has been waking up in the middle of night. (for about the past two weeks) She doesn't do it every night...and only wants to drink a little and go right back to sleep. Sometimes, I don't even think that she wants to eat. Any suggestions or thoughts on why she would suddenly be waking up and the best way to alleviate it. I don't mind getting up with her AT ALL (I'm a first time mom working full time so I actually sort of like it!) but she doesn't seem like she wants to be up and is all out of sorts. Then, it is really hard to get her up and dressed to go to daycare in the morning. Thanks for your help!

What can I do next?

Sometimes they change their sleeping pattern for no reason at all. Or it could be a growth spurt. Maybe this is her new sleeping schedule that she has set herself? I'm all about child-lead parenting... sleep when baby is sleepy, eat when baby is hungry type of thing. So I'm very happy to hear that you don't mind getting up with her. My advice is to follow her cues, make sure she isn't getting too over stimulated during the day, and when you notice she's getting drowsy you can put her to bed/nap (where ever she sleeps).

My son does this once in a while he is almost 4 months on the 23rd. I have a baby monitor that can play music by pushing a button on the parental unit. Or try a mobil that has a remote to start the music. The music seems to help him and I dont have to get out of bed (which is important to me, i have a almost 3 year old).

Hello A.. Several things popped out in my mind. 1) a growth spurt if she is hungry, 2) the weather change; baby's tend to change their sleeping habbits with weather changes, 3) a wet diaper; my baby HATED being wet and wanted changed when the diaper didn't even appear wet, 4) a change in someone else's habbit might be disturbing her. If she some times wants just a small drink and then goes back to sleep and can hold a bottle herself you might want to try putting a bottle of water in her crib with her for when and if she wakes up. However, she might just be waking up for re-assurance that you are still around and want to cuddle. Lastly, if she doesn't want to wake up and get dressed for Day-Care (even though you have to take her there) you could always take her in her PJs. I did that plenty of times when I over slept. I kept a few extra outfits her in diaper bag and the ladies at the Day Care usually liked dressing them since it was something they didn't get to do very often. Best of Luck and Congrats on a Perfect Girl :)
