Hello Everyone
Any suggestions on how to get my 2 year old out of my bed? He loves to be spooned when going to sleep.

What can I do next?

Hey J.,
When my older son was 2 1/2 we put a small sofa at the foot of our bed and had him move to that first. It was a great transition as he was still in our room and could see us when he went to sleep and woke up. Eventually he went to his own room and his own bed.

Sometimes even now my little one will fall asleep in my bed and when my husband comes to bed we put put him in his own bed...he's 8! But I love cuddling with him. One day he won't want to do that anymore...we have to cherish the moments! :)
One other thing I used to do when we finally put him in his own bed was lay in his bed with him until he fellasleep...that worked as well.

What have you tried so far?
My thoughts are to let him fall asleep in your bed and then haul him off to his own, see how that does...
Spoon him in his bed until he's asleep and then sneak out...
start making some "big boy" changes in his room and get him excited to sleep in there- a big boy blanket, pillow, stuffed animal that's big to snuggle, special night light.
I'm a big advocate for putting kids to sleep with a book on cd playing, or on an mp3 player- something quiet and soothing. When my daughter was 2 it was little bear all night on repeat. It gave her company and me some space. Mind you she continued to off and on sneak into my bed in the middle of the night until she was around 4, and then chose to stop on her own. It wasn't every night, but a couple times a month she wormed her way in there.
Good luck!

I have a 16-month old who always slept through the night, no problem -- until we went away on vacation over the summer. Since then, he too would only sleep in our bed with us. I tried getting him to sleep and then moving him -- didn't work, he'd wake right up. He also started throwing up if you tried to put him in his crib! Finally, for the New Year, we bought a kid's size aerobed at Bed Bath and Beyond (online). That seems to have done the trick. Even if he wakes up in the middle of the night, I just lie down with him for a little bit and he falls right back asleep. It was the best use of $70 I've spent in a long, long time :)
