which hand is it? Just one? It could be nerves. When i was about 16 I tweeked a nerve in my shoulder and if I would move a certain way it would be painful and kinda felt hot and my arm would go numb. I went to a physical therapist who is a family friend and after a few sessions and her at home techniques I am better.

Do you sleep on your side? The pressure can make your shoulder hurt and fingers go numb. Could the "dented" feeling be where a sore muscle or tendon joins onto the bone? We aren't doctors and don't have enough info to tell you exactly what's wrong.

I don't understand why your mom won't listen to you?
This could be a pinched nerve -- sounds like it. Ask to go to a chiropractor.

The best to you.

Hi A..

Do you play any sports? I ask because you could have minor nerve damage, and this is a common sports injury. It usually goes away on its own, but you should see a doctor (or maybe a chiropractor) just in case. It could also be a side effect of scoliosis -- believe it or not, if your spine is curved, it can throw your shoulders out of whack.

If you think it could be sports related, try mentioning your symptoms to your coach. He or she will then pass this along to your mom, and your mom may listen more to a fellow adult.

If it's still bothering you this fall, and if your mom still won't listen, please describe your symptoms to the school nurse. He/she can make a serious, medical-sounding report to your mom.

Good luck!

Why won't your mom listen? I think I would have someone else talk to her and have her take you to be checked out. It could be nothing but it could be something too. See if someone can't convince your mom to take you to the doctor soon.

You should go to the doctor. If your mom wont listen maybe speak to a grandparent, father, aunt/uncle. Hope you feel better

Because of the shoulder pain and hand falling asleep, I'd say you need to see a chiropractor. Happens to me and is better with 1-2 adjustments. And stays away if I go once a month. Acupuncture has helped also to manage it.

i'm sorry that your mom will not listen to you. Where is your father in your life? Is there another trusted adult you can talk to? Are you stating she will NOT take you to the doctor to have you examined or are you saying that she will not listen to you about your concerns?

Your shoulders (aka scapulas) have dents in them. If your hand is going to sleep that's nerve damage most likely - I'm not a doctor so i would suggest that you talk with your father, grand parents or aunts/uncle and tell them that you are having problems with your hand and arm.

If they won't listen, school should be starting soon. Tell your school nurse about it and also talk with your school counselor. They should be able to help you and your mom learn to communicate better.

Good luck!

Hi A., these could be symptoms of a ZILLION different things. Or it could be nothing at all.

If your Mom REALLY refuses to take you to see a Dr, please seek the help of another adult. You can discuss this with your school counselor or your school nurse. Really, just call the office at your school and ask to talk to or leave a message for either one.

Have you impressed upon your Mom how important this is to you? When was your last check up? At your NEXT check up, bring it up with the doc YOURSELF, don't wait for Mom to bring it up.

Feel better, k?

I could tell you what it sounds like, but I don't want you going to your mother and saying some random lady on the internet said it was XXXX.

What I will say is this: If she continues to ignore you, tell another trusted adult. If your father isn't in your life, then a grandparent, aunt, uncle...if you still aren't being listened to, then maybe a friend's parent.

I've had something almost exactly the same happen and it's nothing too serious. (Mine was a pinched nerve.) I went to the doctor, got a prescription and then went through physical therapy for several months. I still sometimes have issues, but I know what to do when it acts up.

Like I said tell someone and make sure you get seen.
