10 Year Class Reunion

if it doesn't mean anything then don't go. but i'm curious to see how the people have turned out. so i intend on going when they finally organize one. who doesn't like the excuse to put on a pretty dress and have fun with old friend? plus if you are a better person than you were in high school, you will be able to show that off.

I had mine and didn't go. I don't have any regrets. Mine was $75 a person, so $150 a couple to go. I'm like you, we had the money to go, but the way we look at it is if I want to talk to someone that I went to high school with, I still talk to them. IMO, your 10 year reunion is just a place for everyone to brag on what they've got, who they married, how cute their kids are, etc.

So rather than go to our reunion (my hubby and I graduated from the same school, same year), we asked our fellow graduates that we were friends with to come to our house, throw money into the pot that they would have spent going to the reunion and we'd cook out, drink, socialize, and have a good time. Anyone else that we went to school with that our friends knew, they could feel free to bring them along and just forgo the reunion all together. We had a great time and saved a lot of money. That might be an idea for you to do rather than go to the actual renunion. Wait until your 20 year when people aren't stuck on the social stigmas that they are at your 10!

I went to my ten year reunion in 2000 and can say it was alright but wasn't that special...but I went to a small school in Alabama where I graduated with only 78 other seniors so probably half showed up (with spouses) to the reunion...not sure if I will pay all the money (travel expenses - gas and hotel and other costs) to go back next year for my 20 year...that's the good thing about Facebook, you can catch up with a lot of friends from high school for free :-)

I did not go to my 10 year or my 20 year, but I did go to the happy hour the night before each of the reunions. That was perfect for me. I'm sure I didn't get to see everyone, but it was enough for me, and like someone else mentioned, facebook allows me to keep in touch with virtually everyone else that I missed at the happy hour. I don't regret missing the reunions, and I'll probably do the same thing at future reunions.

follow your gut! I went to my 10-year reunion but didn't really re-connect with people that I wasn't already in contact with and 15 years later I don't remember much of it either. (and it didn't cost $80) so, what can you get for $80? does it pay 1 month of cable/internet? 1 month water bill? 1 - 2 months gas? $80 is $80 (plus any other incidentals) it's all in how you look at it. ~C.~

My class did not have one at 10 yrs, Instead they had one at 20 years.

I was apprehensive about going because mine involved plane tickets, etc. I am glad I went. It was so much FUN. It was great to see old friends and solialize. I am still in contact with some of the friends I re-connected with at my reunion.

I think my class will be planning a 30 year and I plan to go back for that one as well.

Are there any other reunion activities this weekend? My sister skipped her 20 year reunion because it was $120 a person, but found out that a large group was meeting at a local bar the night before. She went to that and had a great time and doesn't regret skipping her reunion. I did pay $80 for my husband and I to go to our 10 year reunion and don't regret it. It is nice to catch up with everyone. If you don't want to go or pay the $80, than don't go. But if you decide to go, go with a good attitude and don't be uspet about the money and I'm sure you will have a good time.
