13 Month Old Is Only 19 Pounds

today we went to Braydens dr appt.. a well check.. well, when she put him on the scale and it said "18" pounds, she wasnt suprised, but inside i was like, What the? then when she came back with a different scale, i figured she WAS alarmed, but hadnt shown it. so on the digital scale he was 19 pounds. my son has been breastfed since birth, and he still nurses occasionally during the day, usually when he wants to go to sleep. i would say im more of a human pacifier than a food source. lol. however he does eat other things...gerber...

Reviews on Front Loading Washing Machine?

Our washing machine recently went out and we're looking at getting one of the front loading ones. We have been out to look at them and have read online reviews, but they are mixed. It seems there are almost an equal number of people that rave about them versus people who hate them and this is for all 3 major brands. I would love to know if any of you have purchased a front loading washer, what brand, what you like, and any problems you may have had. Thanks so much!

Selling Our House

Hello, we are planning on selling our house in the next 10 months(hopefully). We bought our current home when we were really young and put no down payment. We plan on listing it 100k over what we owe on it. Whatever profit we make(depending on what it sells for) we would like to use that towards our next house. How does that work though and what are fees and costs that have to be taken out that I need to be aware of. We have never sold a house before.

Meals for a 17 Month Old

Moms I need some new ideas on what to feed my 17 month old son. He eats a lot earlier than my husband and I do so he usally doesnt eat what we are eating. I have gotten into a rut of making him the same things and to be honest they are all things that are easy and unhealthy. So any ideas on healthy, quick, and flavorful (want to get his pallet ready for what we normally eat) meals for our little one would be greatly appreciated.

Guinea Pig or Hamster?

Ever since my 6 year old daughter visited my sister and fell in love with her chihuahua, she has longed for a dog she can have on her lap and carry around. She begs for one almost daily. We already have a dog (an older, grumpy border collie who's definitely not a cuddler), and often have my mom's dog over here due to her health problems. Hubby has refused to consent to another dog. So the compromise is either a guinea pig or hamster. Which is more tame/affectionate/cuddly, and is one "easier" than the other? I'm fully aware that I'll be...

Toys in Your Living Room?

People with small children and small houses: do you allow toys in your living room? I have 2 preschoolers and a 2 bedroom apartment. My youngest is moving into a big bed now which means even less space to play in their room. I suggested to my husband that we get some sort of toy shelf for the living room and he was adamently against it- he doesn't want our common area cluttered with play things. While I agree with him ideally, realisitically I don't think it's even fair to make them keep ALL their things in their room when pretty much...

Squirrel Digging in Garden

Does anyone know of some way to stop squirrels from digging in your garden? I have a neighbor who puts out peanuts for the squirrels. They bring the peanuts to bury in our yard. What to do? Hubby threaten to trap them and take them far, far away to release them. When it's really bad, he's threatened to shoot them (he's venting, I think). We've just planted some strawberries in the girl's patch of the garden and a squirrel got to the first red strawberry. Our girls were disappointed. Any non lethal way to keep them away from the...

Who Does the Holiday Decorating?

Happy holidays everyone! Question here... who does the holiday decorating in your home? Is putting up the Christmas tree a family effort that has evolved into a tradition? While I admit that I may decorate the inside and outside of my home more than the average person, I am feeling like I am a one woman operation. This year I tried to communicate to the hubby that I would like to decorate the tree with our two toddlers together. Needless to say, that didn't happen. I am feeling extra sad about it this year for some reason. I am so...

22 Month Daughter Getting Cleft Palate Repair Next Month

My daughter will be going through major surgery next month, cleft palate repair being the major and also getting tubes in ears, ABR test, larynxoscopy, tracheoscopy, MRI of the brain betting bones and abdomen checked, all in the same day. We have a long day ahead of us. I was wondering if any one has had or knows some one who has had one of these procedures, I know she will be under anesthesia, for a long while. My question mainly goes to the cleft palate repair, Is the recovery very painful? whats your experience with your lil' one with...

Rules for Adult Children Living at Home Regarding Boyfriend/girlfriend

My daughter is 20 years old living at home and working part time while attending college. I won't let her and her new boyfriend (22 years old) hang out in her bedroom (bedroom is upstairs) because I know what a bad habit that can turn Into. My mom let me and my sisters do this and our boyfriends practically moved in after that comfort level was allowed, and even with the door open things happen, if you know what I mean? I don't want to think about my children having sex in my house even if they are 20! They can save that for when they get...

Social Groups for 17 Year Old

Hi Moms, I need to find a place where my child can socialize without fear of her peers using drugs and alcohol. It seems to me that all her friends are into experimenting with drugs these days and she doesn't want to be involved with it. Unfortunately, in her social circle it's all around her. I suggested she go meet new friends, but at the tender age of 17, it's not so easy to do. Does anyone out there know of a very friendly, welcoming group that deals with this type of situation or other groups that socialize and discuss situations like...
