Which Bottles Are Best???

I am 33 weeks pregnant with a baby girl and I am trying to figure out what kind of bottles to get. Everyone that I know has thrown in their two cents about my plans not to breastfeed long. In a few more weeks I will be a wife, a mom, a full time student and a part time preschool teacher so please forgive me if I don't expect the breastfeeding to continue much after delivery. I am fully aware of the benefits of exclusive breastfeeding but I'm not sure if I will be able to incorporate it into my hectic life...Which is why I really want to...

Taking Away the Bottle

Okay so it's probably a little late for this but my son is now 22 months old and still drinks from a bottle in the AM and before bedtime, he loves his milk warm and won't take it any other way. He uses a regular cup throughout the day and has no problem with it. I should have taken it away earlier but I didn't. Is cold turkey the best way??? He does drink Milk from a cup but I worry about those times that he's looking for that comfort. Help. Thanks Jenn

What's Your Number One, Must-have Product?

Our baby is due the end of July. We live in just under 500sq ft, a normal one bedroom in Manhattan. The only thing we have in the apartment for the baby is the crib, and a we'll be getting a playpen (probably Graco). Other than that, we're not prepurchasing until we have need--due to limited space. Recently I've been taking my lunch breaks browsing Byebyebaby and am overwhelmed by the products. As someone who's been working in the advertising world, I'm very skeptical about packaging and promotions. There's so much stuff out there,...

Infant with Reflux

I have a almost 5 month old baby boy with reflux. He was born 13 weeks early. The doctor has him on previcid and it has not seemed to work. We have him on the Similic Advance formula. He does ok the first half of his feed, then the rest of his feed he will fight eating. Sometimes after he burps it gets better. He spits up after almost every feed. He is gaining weight. I was wondering if anyone else has had these problems and what worked for you. I am thinking of calling the doctor and putting him on a different formula. He also will cry...

Wondering What Kind of Bottles to Buy

I am planning on breastfeeding, but I work, and will also have to use bottles. I am wondering what kind are the best. I know I want BPA free, but I'm not sure what's best with the pump and all of that. I'm going to be a new mom in February.

Bottle Nipples Affected by Cascade Dish Soap

Has anyone else ever experienced washing their Born Free (or any other BPA free bottle) nipple in the dishwasher, as directed only to find that the dish washing soap has significantly affected the nipple? My son has been super fussy with the bottle nipples lately and at first I thought it was because he's 4 months old and distracted by everything.. I tasted the nipples on my own and my throat started to itch/scratch and my tongue got tingly. Clearly the Cascade dish soap we have been using has ruined these nipples. I'm so upset about this...

Cure for Excessive Spit-up in Infant

I have a 4 month old baby boy who has been excessively spitting up his formula since he was 1 month old. His pediatrician has already changed his formula. He started on the Similac advance (blue), and then was changed to the Similac Soy. It seems that his spitting up has gotten worse with the soy, and the spitting up comes out curddled. He's now really gassy, even though we give him mylecon drops. We've also tried all types of new bottles, and burping him every so often during each feeding. However, none of this seems to work. He even spits...

Replacing Old Nipples?

My sitter attributes a leaky bottle to old nipples. What's the general lifespan of nipples? Does it change based on type? Does it change based on how you wash it (dishwasher vs. handwashing)? My daughter uses the Soothie silicone nipple. Since she's outgrowing her Medela bottles, I was going to switch to larger Born Free bottles. Or, is my sitter mistaken?

Getting Depressed Wondering If I'll Be Able to Handle My Child...

I am so worn out, and I don't know if it's because my 13 week old daughter is completely "normal" in her behavior, or if she already has a "challenging" personality. I always heard from friends that the first 3 or 4 months of life were the hardest, but my mom and MIL both make comments such as "she really knows what she wants" and "she's going to be hard to discipline once she gets to that age" which really worries me. Some of the reasons our parents have been a little negative are that our baby - suddenly started refusing bottles when...
