My husband said I need to get out of the childcare field if I want to make better money..... But how do I know which career path to take ??? There's so many jobs out there....how do I know which branch would be the right one if...

Ground Rules for Adult Child Moving Home

Our son graduated college in May. He works as a freelance camera man in the TV & film industry and rents a room in a house from a friend. His housemate's girlfriend and child may be moving in there in June which would require my son to live elsewhere. We have touched on the possibility of him coming home for a while but would only want to do so if it is in his best interest. We have always told our children they cannot live off of us. There would be rent to pay and they would have to contribute to the household. My days as "Mommy" are...

Should We Ask Our Daughter to Pay Rent?

Hi Moms: We have a 25 year old daughter who has been living at home during her senior year of college ( to help save money.. she commuted on the train downtown to school) and has been living with us off and on afterwards. We have not asked her for any money to live here to this point.. (food.. using the car.. groceries). She was employed by a company downtown and living near the city and then was laid off back in the spring. We helped her with paying her school loans ( over $500 a month) after she lost her job. Fortunately, a...

18 Year Old Daughter

Hi, My 18 year old daughter is sleeping overnight with a boyfriend. I have told her that this is not acceptable to me and that it is definetly not ladylike. She told me she would not do it again. Then she turns around and says shes going for a little whild and I call at 4:45 am and she answers the phone(which she did not do before) sleepy like and tells me she is on her way. I tell her what is the point at this time of the morning and that she should have taken her clothes with her. I told her she could not be a tramp around me and...

18 Year Old High School Senior Curfew and House Rules

My 17 year daughter turns 18 next week. Wanted some input on what her curfew should be for school nights and weekends. She currently works part-time and is responsible with her job and school work. She had talked earlier this year about moving out and getting an apartment with her boyfriend (same age, same high school). We told her that if that was her choice, we wanted her to understand that we keep the car (we pay for insurance) and she would be on her own for college. That talk ended quickly, but not quietly. So, we can only...

What Do You Spend on Groceries?

Just curious if my budget is way off the norm: We are a family of 5 (3 small ones) and I budget $450/month for groceries. I spend more at times, but I truly try to stay in that range. What do you spend? I'm tired of stressing about it and want an excuse to add more to the budget - Ha! I am a SAHM, so let me know if you are too to get an equal comparison (as working full-time - I always spent more). Thank you in advance!

The Big Car Debate

Hi everybody! We are having a pretty big argument in my house, and I would love your input. When my daughter got her drivers license she drove my car some, and then my nephew sold me his car for $200 because he was getting a new one. The car was old and nothing fancy, but I figured since it was her first car and I was paying for it, it should be good enough to get her to and from school and she should appreciate having it. She didn't have a job at the time, but she had a pretty heavy class load at school so we agreed that if she kept her...

Paying for Wedding Expenses

My 36 year old son is marrying for the 3rd time. He is a single father and for the past 3 years he and his 2 children have lived with my husband and me. One of his children is a special needs child and we have had a huge responsibility taking care of her so he could work. My husband and I pay a lot of their living expenses every month and keep the children so he can work. He is engaged to a 27 year old and this is her first wedding. Because they are adults and have been engaged for 3 years and we have paid for 2 of his weddings already, we...
