Is Anyone Familiar with Franklin Templeton Investments

My husband and I are in the process of setting up his retirement investments. It is a huge bewildering process. We have sat with the union rep who has given us a lot of information about choices we need to m ake so we will have the guaranteed paycheck each month. That will be starting in august. But in addition to that there will be annuities that need to be rolled over into some sort of mutual funds, etc so as not to just sit stagnant. We were referred to a financial person. He was wonderful and gave us all sorts of information on...

529 College Plan????

Has anyone ever heard of the 529 plan. I was looking on the internet for ways to save money and am considering it for my daughter but not so sure. If you have not heard of it the website is texascollegesavings.com. I was just wondering if anyone has done it and if it is a better choice rather than doing a savings account through a bank.

Seeking Info/advice on Flexible Spending Acct. for Childcare Expenses

Hello, Since I just started back to work recently and we have our little one in daycare, my husband and I are contemplating enrolling in the Flexible Spending Acct. for daycare expenses which his employer provides. Just needed some explanation on how this works exactly(the paperwork they provide can be somewhat confusing!) and if it saves you more money versus claiming the child care credit on your taxes. Any info you could provide would be quite helpful. Thank you. K. O.

Realities of Divorce and finance...ouch! How Did You Get past That?

So...I met with an attorney today to discuss my situation and will be meeting with 2 more attorneys and a mediator over the next few weeks to see what they say and figure out who I'll work with when I decide to move ahead. As expected, the financial piece of this is tough to swallow. Aside from our house situation (negative equity) and the fact that I would be unlikely to get child support even if the kids spend more time with me due to income disparity in my favor, retirement came up. I am the only one of the two of us with real...
