How to Handle Behavior Problems with My Son

Hi Moms My son has been attending the same daycare preschool for 3 1/2 years. I t was in the home for the first 2 years and last year they moved to a building and expanded the base. How to Discipline a Baby/toddler?

Hello all- I am really wanting some advice on disciplining an one & a half year old. She is definitely in her terrible twos early on & I always try to make the excuse for her that she's "still a baby" but lately it seems that she definitely knows that when we tell her no and mean it she is quick to throw herself on the floor and bang her head on purpose. Not to mention the very loud screaming/crying pretty much all day long because we do tell her no alot due to her wanting to get into things she shouldn't be. We have two other kids...

My in Laws and Family Feel like They Are Entitled to Keep My Child

My DS's father is the favorite in his family and his sister, mother and other family members feel like they will babysit my son when they want to regardless if I am comfortable or not. I have let my mom and his god mom babysit but that's it. They really make me angry with their slick comments. anytime they call if I have the time I take my child to see them. I have no problem with them wanting to be in his life but they were so disrespectful during my pregnancy and after he was born I do not feel comfortable around them. I have told his...

Picking Friends in 1St Grade

In my daughter's first grade class, there are two helpers per day. One of their privilidges is that they get to pick a friend to sit with them in a special chair during rug time. The other day, a child accidentally picked two and one had to sit down feeling rejected. This was a fluke accident. I can't help thinking that there are many in the class hoping to be picked and who may never or may infrequently get picked. I confronted the teacher and her explanation was that this type of exercise is a life lesson. The more they...

2 Yr Old Hitting

I have a 2 yr old that has been hitting me and my husband quite a bit. If he doesn't get his way, he gets very frustrated and immediately lashes out at us. We have been assertive by saying 'no', but he tends to laugh at us and we aren't sure how to address this behavior. Also, what do you do if you are out in public and they are frustrated you are making them leave something fun and they start hitting. Time out seems like a great idea but not easy when you are running errands! Please help!

Trying to Boost My 5 Yr. Old Daughter's Self Esteem.

Hi I'm having a little problem with my daughter and her class mates at school. They keep telling her they don't want to be her friend, because she doesn't have teeth & wears glasses. Or they'll just stop being her friend out of no were. I know they're just kids, but it REALLY breaks my heart watching my daughter getting put down like that. I see her always trying to get the little girls attention in order to play with her but they'll just ignore her. She seems to always be the follower instead of leading. I feel like she doesn't have enough...

Is First Years or Evenflo Breast Pumps Any Good?

When my son and daughter were born premature, the WIC offices where I lived provided a motorized Medella pump supplied from a medical supply store. Obviously this was very good. I know that Medellas are sold in Target but I also seen other brands. Is there an "off" brand ie, Evenflo, First Years, etc. that is comparable but without the price??

Tantrums and Whining- What Is Going On!?

I feel like I've reached the end of my rope and have zero patience or sanity left! I don't know what to do with my daughter anymore. She's 2.5 and has always been pretty headstrong and vocal, but the last few months have been getting worse, sometimes I feel like I can't even enjoy her because I'm so "on edge" and stressed :( I'm ok with occasional 2 year old tantrums (she is a twin so I hear plenty of those!), but she's now getting to the point where she has a tantrum after any/every one of these situations throughout the day: me telling...

Behavioral Problems & Antihistamines?

My 2-and-a-half-year-old son has had a cough for the past three months. I know this is now considered a chronic cough. At times it is very productive and at other times it seems to be a dry cough. It is usually worse at night and then in the morning, at times bringing him to or near vomiting and turning his poor little face red. He did have RSV this past winter. He has been on two different antibiotics for this cough over the past three months and nothing changed. He has no fever and no real other allergy symptoms. He has no known allergies...
