LeapPad - Waste of Money or Worthy Investment?

Hi all, We are going to be driving to Florida (from MN) for spring break. I have 3 kids aged 3, 5 and 6. I am starting to think about things to keep them busy for 28 hours in the car. I have two friends who bought LeapPads over the holiday, but haven't used them much yet. I'm curious if you all can give a recommendation. I saw some pretty negative reviews on Amazon.com complaints about cost of applications, difficulty with set up and support, and the fact that the games were pretty spendy. Part of me wants to have my kids read...

Amounts Spent on Gifts for Friends? Just Curious....

Hello Ladies, My daughter went to two birthday parties with in these two days and so I ended up spending a little over $50 on the two girls. I mentioned it to my dear friend and she almost had a heartattack! She said I spent to much and that the gift should be no more than $10 tops. My problem is...where the heck can you find something thats reasonable for that price!?! I don't like buying gifts that I know the birthday child wont get any use out of it so I do clothing like shirts, hair bows-ties-headbands, perfume-body...

Honest Opinions of Those Owning the LeapPad 1 or 2

Hello, I'm sure this has been asked several times but I'm looking for recent honest opinions of the following gaming systems. Our kids are 7, 5, and 4 Please Note: We own (1) Leapfrog Explorer & (3) DS systems Honest opinons... Is it really worth getting the new LeapPad 1/2 OR is the Explorer just about the same (minus the fact it doesn't have a camera) Again, I'm very familiar with the Explorer since we have one. The DS is just not educational. I have seen that the Explorer has really helped in letter recognition...

No Toy Christmas Gift Ideas

The Christmas season is right around the corner. I am already being hit up for gift ideas from the Grandparents. My children have plenty of toys. Santa will be bringing more, I am certain. I am trying to think of suggestions that aren't necessarily toys, but my children will still be excited about and the Grandparents will enjoy giving. I know some will suggest memberships and movie passes, but knowing the gift givers, they will want to give something tangible that the kids will get excited about. (However silly that may seem). I have...

What Are Some Toys You Have Given That Your Kids Play with Time and Time Again?

I have an almost 3 yr old daughter and for her it is the Little People All around town playset. She could play with it for hours if I let her. It was definitely worth $40!! With Christmas coming up, just wondered if any other moms had such toys they have bought in the past. I get tired of buying toys that get played with twice and then thrown in a corner!

My Daughter's First Christmas

This Christmas will be my daughter's first. She'll be almost 10 months old when the day arrives, and my husband and I are trying to figure out some gifts for her. At this point, all I can think of are practical gifts, like a big girl car seat and a smaller stroller, but I want to get her things she will have fun with, beyond ripping open the wrapping paper. Any suggestions are welcome. Thanks
