We are thinking of going to Wisconsin Dells for two nights at the end of March. It would be me and my husband, our son (he is almost 9) and our daughter (she will be 6 by then). I was just wondering what there is to do outside of the hotel when it is cold outside. Any recommendations, as well as places to stay/eat would be appreciated. Thanks!

What can I do next?

I liked kalahari and they have indoor activities as well as a great waterpark. Knuckleheads has bowling , go carts and games. Moose Jaw has awesome pizza and a small game room downstairs. Have fun!

Stay at the Wilderness. Much less expensive than some of the others. They have 4 indoor waterparks plus a dry park, arcade, etc. We stayed there several times and LOVED it.

As for other things to do, there is a Magic Quest and a Wizard's Quest which are like scavenger hunts/puzzles for the kids to do.

Of course there is also an outlet mall if you want to do some shopping.

Buffalo Phils has an arcade so the kids can play, plus they will deliver your food on a train if you sit in a certain section.

I assume you know that most of the hotels have waterparks, arcades, etc. and you really wouldn't need to venture out? It's not cheap, but we loved the Kalahari and it has a ton of activities. You might want to see if the Ducks are operating by then. Although it can still be chilly (and icy?) we rode on the Ducks in early April once and had fun. I think there is also a Ripley's Believe it or Not Museum. My son loves those.

I would look into Chula Vista. They also have an all inclusive package. We love it there.

We've always stayed at the Wilderness. A) It has better rates than Kalahari and B) We just love that there are so many indoor waterparks you can visit, all without stepping foot outside the hotel. They have other great attractions on site such as glow in the dark mini-golf, a haunted house feature, a nice arcade, and restaurants. We got the Adventure pass for each kid when we went for DD's birthday & we barely had time to visit everything in the 2 days we were there.

The only other waterpark I have visited there was Mt Olympus, also in the winter, and was really let down. There was only 1 indoor park and we found it to be poorly heated. There was one section of the lazy river where we literally had to jump in the water the chill was so bad.

Outside the hotel, we went to the candy shop in the downtown area and panned for gold & gem stones in the shop nearby. The Tommy Bartlett Observatory was ok. We really wanted to do Wizard Quest and Top Secret but we didn't have enough time. They looked cool though. Lots of evening shows too - do your research ahead of time though. We waited too long and then couldn't get tickets.

Kalahari, Great Wolf or Wilderness. There is so much to do in the hotels you don't have to venture outside. Otherwise the whole area is full of places to stop your hotel will have brochures.

I would check out the Rick Wilcox Magic Show. The kids (and adults) will think it's amazing!

We went last year in Mid-April. There was not much open outdoors at that time. We went to the Deer Park and Go Carts, but I don't think they will be open in March. Too cold!

I agree with others, stay at one of the places that has a big indoor waterpark. We didn't and regretted it. We ended up paying extra and going to Kalahari. When we go back we will be staying at The Wilderness or Great Wolf.
