Old Prescription Bottles - What Do You Do with Them?

Just curious - my daughter and I both have prescriptions we take every month. The bottles have our names, address, the name of the medication, the prescription number, the pharmacy, etc., on them. So I've been trying to black out that information with a permanent marker and then throwing them in the trash. What do all you mamas do with your old prescription bottles?

Straterra or Concerta for ADHD??

My son is 8.5 and has been on Concerta for about 2 years now. He seems to be doing better in school but I have to say I am at my wits ends. Since Concerta takes an hour or so to work, mornings are a nightmare. He is just so hyper. Every morning I dread waking up and dealing with getting him ready for school and me ready for work. We have a large family and it's hard enough simply because of that, but add a very hyper child, and it's even worse. Then by the time he gets home from school, the meds seem to be wearing off and evenings are...

Allergic to the Dog?

My 18-month old has a pretty-much contiuously runny nose. It usually combined with nasal congestion. Fortunately, it doesn't seem to bother her and it doesn't transform into infections or other problems. I suspect she may be allergic to our dog. Is there a way to tell? Is it possible to test for just a dog allergy? Or do I have to subject her to a huge painful test? I really don't want to do that, but if she is allergic I need to konow.

Son with Diarrhea

My son is 7 months old and is having his first bout with diarrhea. He's still eating and still having a wet diaper, though not as often as he usually does. But he is pooping out pretty much everything that he's eating. I am wondering if anyone has used imodium on a child his age before. I have also heard that yogurt really helps but I was wondering if anyone else had tried this. I've got a call into his doctor but he hasn't called me back yet. Any info would be helpful.

Son Wakes with Stuffy Nose

My son who is 14 months old usually wakes earlier in the morning than usual (6 am) with a stuffy nose. Once he is up he wakes up completely after his nose has been cleaned out. Rarely he will not have a stuffy nose in the early morning and sleep until 7. His schedule gets all off waking up an hour earlier (he'll take 2 naps and then go to bed late), plus I would love to have that extra hour of sleep. I've tried everything from humidifier to vaporizer and it still never fails in the early morning hours he gets such a congested nose he wakes...

What Kind of Headache...?

hey moms! i have been brought to my knees yet again so i just thought i would get your opinions. i occasionally get these "headaches", they are normally brought on by stress, or perhaps not drinking enough water, or a mixture of these and other things. they are rare - once every few months. i have been getting them for more than ten years -the first i remember was in college. i don't always get them that often, many times they are less often than every couple months. but when i get them, they will go from a normal "headache" (which, i very...

"OTC Meds or Not"

Lately there has been alot of talk about not giving children under 2 over the counter cold meds. Some doctors say its ok some not. what to do when your 15month old is up all night and can't breathe? How did we ever survive the OTC meds. as a child, and I know our moms gave it and we all did up until about 2 yrs ago when the FDA scared everyone. Iam looking for some home remedies for head congestion in a 15 month old. Iam also wondering if anyone out there still uses the OTC meds for thier children?

Cold Medicine for 16 Month Old

Hi Moms! I need some personal advice on giving a 16 month old cold medicine. My daughter is very congestion and coughing like crazy. She kept us up all night last night becasue she was coughing and crying. We eventually brought her to bed with us and she still cried all night because she feels so terrible. To make matters worse, she coughs so hard that she keeps puking up her food, all over herself and whoever is feeding her. I want to give her some relief and have tried saline drops, suctioning with the battery operated suction,...
