Does anyone know of a way to save on a newspaper subscription such as the Fort Worth Star Telegram? I am just wanting to get the weekend editions for the coupons. Thanks!

What can I do next?

I am a huge coupon user and the cheapest way to get the paper for coupons is to purchase the double paper on Saturday (early Sunday edition) or on Sunday of each week at a local grocery store. You can get them at Walmart (on Saturday) or anywhere on Sunday like Albertsons, Kroger, not sure about Tom Thumb. It is only $2 for 2 papers and you get 2 sets of coupns. This is cheaper than a subscription because 1 you get multiple papers so you get multiple coupns. You can use more tham 1 of the same coupon at a time. I but 4 papers (2 doubles) every weekend so I can have 4 of every coupon. Not sure to what extent you use coupons but if you want some more info on how to save send me an email ____@____.com also save this way because there are no coupons on the holiday weekends so you do not have to buy a paper. With a subscription you are still paying for a paper even on holidays. Hope that helps!

Double bundles are sold at the grocery stores for $2 starting
on Saturday and are usually there through Tues. I like getting the coupons on Sat. I am able to use some with my
Sat. shopping and plan for Sun. if I need to go out.

Honestly, you're better off picking it up at the store every week. It's $12 per month for Sunday only delivery. We do Wed, Fri, Sat & Sun for the same price we were paying for Sunday only. I don't always get to read all of it but I save the sections I want to read and get to them eventually.

If you have yet to subscribe to the FW Star-Telegram, then you could take advantage of an introductory offer which will be substantially less than their normal subscription rate. My husband and I found this to be less expensive (& much more convenient!) than buying the Sunday papers each week. We, too, are serious coupon clippers.

Also, the FWST offers Press Pass for anyone subscribed for 6 months or a year and there are serious discounts that come as part of that - 20% off at many restaurants; 50% off of area cultural performances; two-for-one days at movie chains, etc. We save lots of money by doing it this way. (The paper knows we won't pay full subscription costs ever and we work through their retention dept).

Remember that newspapers make most of their money through advertising and you only get advertisers when your circulation is higher, so they have a vested interest in having you subscribe!

Well, I just so happen to work for the Star-Telegram. You can take the Sunday paper for only $12 a month. If you pay one year in advance you get one month free. Trust me, the money you save with the coupons will more than triple the cost of the paper. Plus, with your subscription you you get a press pass keychain card, which offers you discounts at hundreds of restaurants, car washes and events through out the metroplex. I had my son's first birthday catered by Rail head in Bedford and saved $70 with my press pass (20% of my purchase)!!! You can call customer service at ###-###-#### for a free two week trial.

You can get a weekend subscription that includes Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. I think it's $16.00 a month. I only take it for the coupons, too, and this is the best way I've found. Hope this helps!

You can get a subscription to only receive the Sunday paper. I've done it before.

Every year I get mine started new (instead of continuing a current subscription.) When the current one runs out I will wait for them to solicite, and let them know I am only interested in the paper if it can be made available at the introductory rate (something list 6mo for <40$), and so far they have always given it to me...going on 5 or so years now. Hope this helps!

We have the Fort Worth Star Telegram subscription for the whole week. If I remember correctly, it isn't much more to get the entire week than just the weekend, but I know they have subscriptions for weekend only or even just Sunday only if your looking for the coupons alone. Not sure if this is true with the weekend subscriptions, but we pay for the whole year in advance - $180 I believe which is even cheaper than paying monthly. By doing that, we get a press pass which has tons of discounts. You get 20% at lots of different restaurants, buy one get one free nights a movie theaters, half price on certain days at NRH2O, free ticket nights at the Rangers. We use our discounts all the time!
