Physician Assistant Vs. Doctor for Growth Plate Fracture

My 4 year old has a growth plate fracture in the femur. She has an appointment in the orthopedics department tomorrow, but with a physician assistant (PA) rather than a doctor (MD). When I asked for an appointment with an MD, I was told that the MDs only see patients with injuries requiring surgery (I have Kaiser HMO). So I confirmed the appointment with the PA. Since my daughter's fracture involves the growth plate, I would really like her to be seen by an actual doctor, but don't want to be one of those difficult patients. ...

6 Year Old Who Snores

My 6 year old daughter has snored for as long as I can remember. I took her to her Ear, Nose and Throat doctor and he recommended surgery to have her tonsils and adenoids removed. I know this is a common procedure but it still seems a little drastic to me. Are there any alternatives to surgery to help her snoring and get a better night's sleep?

Help with Bed Wetting 5 Year Old

My 5 year old has been night trained since he was 41/2, but he has started wetting the bed again a few months ago. He wets the bed almost every night and I am getting tired of finding his wet cloths in the bathroom, and I can’t be washing underwear for him every 3 days or so. I thought it might be because he started pre-school this year, but I am sure that it is not the problem since he has been in school several months before he started wetting the bed. I tried waking him up during the night, but he sleeps so soundly that I can’t...

I Have Had It with My 5 Year Old!!

If you guys read my post regarding my defiant 5 year old, then you know all about the tip of the iceberg. The straw that broke the camels back: she just intentionally stepped on a brand new picture frame. (why was it on the floor? it was in the corner, blocked off by the couches, in a 'safe spot' -or so I thought- so it wouldn't get knocked over or broken before I could hang it. NO ONE has ANY business even being in that corner. It was under an end table for crying out loud). I HAVE NO IDEA WHERE THIS BEHAVIOR IS COMING FROM. I...

6 Year Old Sleeping in His Own Room

help- my 6 year old son will not sleep in his own room at night. He has to be on the floor in our master bedroom. This started about 2 years ago.For a while he would sleep in his older sisters room in her top bunk but now he won't even sleep there. This summer during a very bad storm our neighbors house caught fire and we helped them get out. Now my son won't sleep all night anywhere where he can not see me. He wants to sleep in his room or in his sisters room unitl right before bed then he "freaks out" If he does fall asleep in our loft...

5 Year Old Snoring

My 5 year old son snores horribly at night. I have spoken with the peditrician numerous times and he always gives me the same answer. My son has very large adnoids (whatever they are) and he says that is the cause of the problem. Thankfully,he has never had any kind of throat issue (infections..etc) so the peditrician said there is really nothing to do about it. He told me to use a humidifer, which I have always used. When he sleeps I can actually see him struggling for air. I compare it to trying to suck something through a straw that's to...

I have not been to the dentist in so long it is embarrassing. I have an extreme fear of the dentist. I am looking for a general dentist and someone to remove my wisdom teeth. I need a dentist that works with fearful patients and won't be judgmental about how long it has been since I have seen a dentist. I am will to drive a bit for a good dentist. Thanks so much!

My 5 Year Old Has Excema

My 5 year old daughter has excema. When she was an infant, it was so bad that she has scratches all over her face. She was reffered to a determatologist. He gave me some cream w/a prescription in it. This does not help her at all. We have controlled the dryness on her scalp by using T-gel ut her skin is still very dry. Last time we couldn't control the dryness, the doctor put her on steriods for 7 days. I hate the fact that the only way to help her skin is to put her on steriods. I have heard lots of bad thing about steriods. The doctor...

5 Year Old Failed Eye Test!!

My 5 year old came home with a note in kindergarten saying he failed the eye test that the school gave. I know many of the test can be either way. I know last Monday he came home from school and his “left eye” was a little swollen. Tuesday it was red and swollen. Called his doctor, spoke with the nurse which said it sounded like a allergy contact to give him benadryl and wait a day and see what it does. Wednesday it cleared up and was back to normal so he went back to school. Thursday it was red and swollen again. Took him to a...
