Almost 3 Year Old's SEVERE Dry Skin

My son's skin has always been real dry, but especially in the past year or so. I'm quickly running out of ideas on how to help it. He's almost 3 years old (will be three at the end of next month). He has big patches on his scalp that hurt him when I try to gently comb it out after his baths to get some of the patches out. He'll let me do it real gently for a little while and then pulls his head away and says it hurts. Baby oil to loosen them up and cradle cap treatment by Orajel have helped as little short term fixes. Both are messy,...

Homeopathic Remedy for Allergies

Hi Moms, I have a 4 year old daughter that has chronic sinus infections. She has been sick since she was born with ear infections, viral infections and sinus infections. She has taken antibiotics since birth too. She has been tested for allergies and is allergic to pollen and other enviromental allergens. Her father is asthmatic and believes in western medicine and taking allergy medicines. Now my little one is allergic to antibiotics, namely the penicillian family of medicines. The only one that she can use is a strong one, Biaxin. ...

4 Year Old with Allergies

My daughter had a severe rash with swelling on her face this weekend so I took her to a local Urgent Medical Care Center. By the time the nurse got us into a room to do the temperature, weight, medical history stuff the rash had spread to the top portion of her torso and back and spots on her arms and legs. She complained that it was itchy and it hurt - but she didn't have any problems breathing. It ended up, after being put on a "Fast Track" status, that it was severe hives. Not your run of the mill sneezing, runny nosed allergy that I...

Any "Natural" Remedies for Asthma Out There?

Hello, I have a 17 month old who is on a nebulizer 2-3 times a day (more when he sounds bad) he is also on an allergy medicine that he takes at night. I'm concerned that we are relying too heavily on drugs and was wondering if there are any natural remedies out there that anyone has found successful.

4-Year-old Son Constantly Getting Sick

My 4-year-old has been getting sick about every three to four weeks. He gets a fever (I haven't taken his temperature, but he feels pretty warm). He complains of stomachaches, headaches and leg pain (not all at once, but at different times) and he says he's cold even if it's over 90 degrees . He doesn't want to eat and just wants to lie on the couch and watch TV or sleep (he's normally very active and a very good eater). It usually lasts two to three days. It's been going on for about six months and it's really making me worry. It's kept...

Advise on Dr. Prescription

I took my 10 year old son to the doctor with symptoms including a soar throat and stuffy nose. The nurse did a quick strep test that came back negative. When the doctor came in he said it was probably his sinuses. He looked in his ears and found them to be normal. Then he looked in his throat and said that he was going to prescribe him singulair and zyrtec because he felt that my son has allergies and not a virus. This just sounds fishy to me. We have never been told that my son has allergies and now suddenly we are being told that he...

3 Yr Old with Pneumonia

Hi Mamas, We are now going on day 5 of my son having this yucky respiratory virus/ turned pneumonia. He started antibiotics on Wednesday, and his pediatrician also wants him taking albuterol round the clock every 4 hours, which to be honest, doesn't seem to be doing anything. I don't know if the real reason I'm writing this is because I just need support - I am at wits end because my son has been so miserable, clingy, neither of us are sleeping much, and we've been cooped up inside during one of the nicest weeks ever in CT winter... or...
