Last night my son who is 6 and autistic/nonverbal ate pizza!!! My son is very very particular about what he will eat. He has been that way forever. At one time long ago when he was less than a year old he ate just about anything but after one year of age.......all hell broke loose and he restricted himself. Yes, I know pizza is not a healthy food especially since we did order out, but the fact remains that my child who will usually only eat 4/5 different things daily ate pizza! He is also currently working on a piece of pizza right now.

I'm sure I'm not the only one who can brag about something their kid(s) have done recently so please share in my joy and shout to the world what has your kid(s) done lately that you feel like bragging about?

What can I do next?

Pizza is not all that unhealthy. Depends what's on it how healthy it is but most pizza's do have some nutrition and many are healthy. It's when the diet is primarily fat and the pizza also has lots of cheese and fatty meats that it's not so healthy. But if one's general diet is healthy then pizza is not bad.

What a wonderful thing for you! Pizza can be healthy as well. Maybe now that he like it he would like making one with you, too. That might help him try different toppings, too

Awww... Yaaaay! Congrats to your little guy on is accomplishment! And, yeah, so what if it was "unhealthy" pizza. His accomplishment is the highlight here. I have nothing to share. I'm happy to read your good news.

Awesome for him!.. I bet he will become more adventurous.

My nephew , autistic, was the same way. Very particular. Really only wanted cheese..

Now he will eat casseroles.. meats, canned vegetables.

He is way more adventurous eating out in nice restaurants.. I know it seems odd, but he really will try foods better, when they are away from home.

Good for your son....and pizza CAN be healthy. Maybe you can get some ingredients that he seems to enjoy and buy some pizza from your favorite pizza place (many will sell you some) and you and your child can put together some mini pizzas that he would like.

Blessings......

That is great! I was a picky eater as a kid and my dad gave me $10 to try one bite of pizza when I was 10 yo. At least you didn't pay your child to eat junk food:)

I hear that pizza isn't healthy all the time but for the life of me cannot figure out why. I think if he likes it and will eat it then let him have it.
