Children and Diet Sodas

This weekend I was visiting with my boyfriend's family. His brother was there with his 2 daughters, ages 4 & 2. I was apalled to see him filling up 2 sippy cups with Diet Rootbeer!! My boyfriend later told me that's basically all they drink, that and Diet Coke.(yes, I'm serious!) I didn't want to overstep my bounds so I wanted to do find out why diet soft drinks are especially bad for children(I don't know the specifics on why,) and present him with an article or something. Does anyone have suggestions on an article I could forward him that...

Breaking Bad Nap Habits (Carseat, Nursing Down)

My 6 mo. old daughter has always been a good sleeper. She started sleeping 12 hours/night at 3 months, started taking two 1.5 hour naps around 5 months. She chose to do this--she likes to be well-rested. The problem is that I've instilled some bad sleep habits that now I'd like to break. I realize this was my doing, and I feel terrible that I didn't see this day coming. My almost 4 year old daughter received both the Fisher Price Ocean Wonders bouncy seat and crib toy when she was born. We got tons of use out of both and she loved watching them. Once she outgrew them, I stored them in her bedroom closet (not necessarily upright) and never noticed any problems (ie leaking water or water stains), but when I pulled them out for my second daughter, I noticed that both products' water levels were down at least an inch! (If your familiar with them, the stars and spinning items actually poke out of the water.)...

Nighttime Fits While Weaning off Binkies

We are in the process of weaning our 2 yr old off of his binkies (I just wrote about this a day or two ago). He threw them away with no problem, and he keeps saying "Binkies bye-bye, Binkies garbage, all gone." He seems totally fine with them being gone. He even goes down for his naps and bedtime fine. He falls asleep quickly. The problem is during the night. He wakes up and because he has lost his normal means of soothig himself, he is a COMPLETE wreck! He screams louder than I have EVER heard him, and he'll go on for an hour. He's...
