Hi Everyone,
My son is 7 months old and he really likes plush toys. and I want to buy more of plush toys for him to enjoy his playtime while sitting. Can anyone suggest where can i buy good plush/soft toys for a 7 months old baby. I am really concerned about age specific toy because he puts everything in his mouth and i dont want him to eat fibres of the toy. Thanks in advance.

We have a soft square toy by Lamaze that my daughter really loved. It has different textures on different sides, and she spent a lot of time exploring it. I think ours was from Babies R Us, but here's a link: http://www.geniusbabies.com/clutcubnew11.html

I also agree that you don't need a lot. We had 3 or 4 probably to start with. One in the carseat, one in the stroller and one in the house. We would rotate which was where and which ones she was playing with and which were "resting" every couple weeks so it always seemed like she was getting new things. Correll (http://www.corolle.com/us/catalogue/babicorolle.php5) also makes some very nice and high quality dolls. They have some that are boys or gender neutral if it would bother you to give your son a pink doll. My daughter LOVES her "miss rose" and she's had it over a year with very little wear and no tear.

Hi S.,

I know what you are talking about with the fibers! Taggies is a great brand. I think Babies R Us carries them, but if you want a better selection, just go to www.taggies.com.

We all have had fibers go thru our digestive system. You can't possible prevent it. And there is no way to know that a "good age specific plush toy" will not release some fibers. They all do.

I've bought a great many of my daugher's and grandchildren's stuffed toys at Goodwill. I pull on the plush, I look at the seams, check for stains and in general assess the quality by it's appearance. Then I wash and dry them in machines. They are almost as good as new. Some look new, even.

I would suppose that the new toys that have very short plush would be most likely what you are looking for. They are sold everywhere. It's up to you to judge the quality. Main brands can be something that you don't want.

I've always found Disney plush toys to be sturdy. They do have newer ones with the newer soft fabic that is hardly a plush even tho it's very soft. They don't wash as well. The softness goes away.

My grandson has a donkey, his security "blanket." He's 6 and goes everywhere with it. Today he told me his donkey needs a bath and I agreed. Chase carefully put the donkey in the washing machine. He's clean but I'm sorry I washed him. This is my first negative experience.

I bought his first donkey at the Tillamook Cream store. He lost it. I found this one on the Internet. If you find one that you like in a store you can probably buy it on the Internet for less. HIs TY Baby original donkey was $15 or more. I found him for $5 including shipping. And he was brand new.

We got some Gund infant plush toys for our little boy... he has a pig, dog and horse. They all made sounds which were good for entertainment, although they stopped making noises after 1-2 rounds in the wash (not a big deal to us).

We liked the toys since they weren't too big, but were nice and soft, and very durable.

You really only need a couple, any more than that confuses them and they can't focus. You want plush that you can put in a pillow case and throw in the washer to clean, because your baby boy will chew and drool all over them. Something with a short nap, terry cloth or even nylon would work well. Toys R Us, Merry-go-round (in Bellevue), Gymboree all have infant plush. But again you will find yourself digging out from under all his toys if you get everything that catches your attention. One or two will do quite nicely. You can always get one more at a birthday or when the others wear out from over-loving and washing.
Enjoy!!!!

Both of my kids loved these soft blocks. They are Baby Einstein, and the make noise and have things that they can pull and push...they are as soft as can be and they are a teaching tool.
