Allergic to the Dog?

My 18-month old has a pretty-much contiuously runny nose. It usually combined with nasal congestion. Fortunately, it doesn't seem to bother her and it doesn't transform into infections or other problems. I suspect she may be allergic to our dog. Is there a way to tell? Is it possible to test for just a dog allergy? Or do I have to subject her to a huge painful test? I really don't want to do that, but if she is allergic I need to konow.

New Singulair Side Effects

Has anyone noticed subtle changes in their child while taking Singulair? My 11 year old has allergies and asthma and has been on Singulair (and other meds) for a long time on and off. I notice distict changes in mood, behavior and sleeping habits while on Singulair. I brought it up to our pediatrician several years ago and he brushed it off as being perfectly safe. I even brought it up to my son's allergist more recently and she was puzzled. Said it must be something else. Imagine my surprise when I've been seeing the news articles on...

Singulair and Nasonex

My 8 year old son has had a persistent cough for about 7 weeks or so. I took him to the doctor 8/19, and they took an x-ray of his lungs. The doctor diagnosed him with mycoplasma pneumonia, and gave him an antibiotic that he took for the prescribed 5 days. The cough has not gone away so we went back to the doctor today. Unfortunately is GP was out on vacation so we had to see a different doctor. This doctor gave us samples of Singulair and Nasonex (nasal spray). After reading online about the two products, I am not so sure they are...

My Little Boy Is Allergic to Eggs.

Hello, I have a two year old son who is allergic to eggs and we found that out when he was a little over a year old with a skin allergy test. We never give him anything that has egg in it. I was wondering if there was other mom's out there who's children are allergic to eggs or any other kind of foods and if they have out grown it? I just want to know if my son will ever out grow this allergy. Thanks!

Breastfeeding and Medications

Hi, just wanted to see if anyone else has this problem and what you did about it. I currently have an almost 4 month old daughter. I am nursing and it is going great! Since I had my baby, my sinuses have been giving me problems. It came to a head about two weeks ago and my nose completly closed up. Because of this, I could not breath and could not sleep. After about two weeks of this and taking over the counter medications I broke down and went to an allergist. He has me on oral steroids, nasonex, zyrtec and 20 days of anitbiotics. ...

Singulair for Treating Ear Infections???

My pediatrician just prescribed singulair for 30 days to treat my daughter's ear infection. She is 3yrs old and her first ear infection was in January. She has been on antibiotics twice and still has some fluid in her ear. Her nose and sinuses seem totally clear and I am nervous about giving her this drug. Has anyone else been prescribed singulair for this purpose? What did you do? Thank you?

Singulair for a 2 Year Old??

Hi Ladies! My daughter continues to get ear infections and the croup. She's recovering from her second round of this stuff. This has all happened in a matter of 4 months. She's got lots of food allergies, and the doctor seems to think that she must have environmental allergies as well and something she's allergic to keeps triggering her getting sick. Long story short...she just finished her cortisone for the croup, has about 5 days left on the antibiotics, and the doctor wants me to start her on Singulair through the end of fall to see if...

Allergic to Dogs????

My son(5 months old) is allergic to something, his doctor thinks it might be dogs......I have 3, I had them before he was born. He just recently started having symptoms that are very mild and I try not to let him around them, but they love him and he's amazed by them. And all my family and friends have dogs. I'm not totally convinced that that's what it is. So my question is how do I know for sure if it's dogs? And if he is how can deal with it, without getting rid of my dogs?

Seasonal Allergies and Allergy to Fish

My son is 14 months old and has been diagnosed with a severe egg and peanut allergy, and mild allergy to soy and wheat. We are quite careful about the foods we give him, mostly things he's had previously to avoid reactions. Last night, we gave him salmon for the first time and he had a serious reaction. He's had plenty of flounder/cod/white fish over the last 7 months so I didn't expect him to have a problem with any kind of fish. Has anyone heard of someone being allergic to one kind but not the other? Also, he's had a runny nose...

Your Opinions on Singulair

I have a 5 yr old daughter who gets a wicked cough a few times a year. This past trip to the ped he suggested we start her on 4 mg of Singulair. My husband is asthmatic and the ped feels that there is a possibility that she may be diagnosed later in life with asthma. She is considered at risk because she has had upper respiratory issues a few times this past winter. My question is that I've heard both good and bad about this medication and I am just concerned. Most of the issues involve behavioral outbursts and children becoming more...

Won't Take Medicine

I have an almost 2yr old daughter who currently has a UTI. She is supposed to be taking liquid antibiotics twice a day. For whatever reason she REFUSES to take the medicine. I have tried bribing her with M&M's putting it in with her juice and just plain holding her down. She starts to scream as soon as she even sees the dropper with the medicine in it. When I put it in the juice she took one sip and said she didn't like it. I am at my whits end. She has to take this medicine to get better. Any creative suggestions would be a big help.
