Help with Eczema and an Allergist for My One Year Old in the Tampa Area

My little girl (15 months) has eczema all over her back, chest and tummy. It first appeared when she was on antibiotics, getting worse with each course of antibiotics that she took for chronic ear infections. (has recently had tubes in her ears, so hoping antibiotics will now be out of the picture) The eczema flares if she eats even the smallest amount of dairy and or eggs. I'm unable to get rid of the current flare up to be sure if there are any other triggers for her eczema. By the end of the day or if we spend any time out in this humid...

Allergic Reaction to Cephalexin

To make a long story short...my otherwise very healthy 4 y/o was prescribed cephalexin (and also at the same time griseofulvin) last week on Thursday. In hindsight, after the first dose I noticed some bumps on his arm and a pink patch on his cheek. But I did not think anything of it. After the 2nd dose all of a sudden I noticed crazy rashes all over his body-face, arms, legs, back, neck, ears (oh, his poor ears). I stopped the meds and took him in to the weekend clinic on Saturday-Dr. thinks is allergic reaction to the cephalexin (as...

Excema = Allergy?

Does Excema ALWAYS mean there is an allergy? My son is 6 months old and has had bad excema since about 2 months. Under my ped's advice, I use Cortisone and Aquaphor, but it's still there. It is getting a little better but nonetheless, it's still there. I don't know if it could be a milk allergy, or dust allergy. Could he develop asthma because of this? I question my ped all the time and he just says "Awww don't worry about it. If he's eating, sleeping, and playing, then he's fine." But as a Mom I am concerned. Help Mamasource! :)

Could I Be Allergic to My Dog?

Please help me ladies! I have battled hives on and off. Last spring was the first episode and I think it was caused by stress. I took Zyrtec and although it basically knocked my out (I was so sleepy and groggy for 24 hours), it took care of the hives. On occasion since then, I have taken it when the itching is unbearable, but the sleepiness really is an inconvenient side effect. Lately, I have had hives on a daily basis (I use dye free soaps and detergents). My legs look horrible due to the itching/scratching. I have started to...

Looking for Advice for Possible Allergic Reaction

My 7yr old has sensitive skin. Last month he broke out with a rash. Some of them blistered, while others kind of streaked. He had them on his fingers, back of neck, face, belly and the inside of the bend in his elbows. They are itchy. This past week he broke out again. Not NEARLY as bad. I'm thinking it is some kind of allergic reaction. Any advice? Our first thought was poison ivy, but have ruled that out.

Allergic Reaction to Amoxicillan

My daughter had an ear infection and the doctor put her on amoxicillan. I started giving it to her last Sat. and then thurs. afternoon I had realized she had thrown-up and also had red bumps on her stomach and back. I just thought it was from her eating too much the night before and having the ear infection. But now it spread all over her body. Could this be an allergice reaction to the amoxicillan? Has anyone else had this happen to their child? I will be calling the doctor on Monday for sure if the bumps are still there. It's just that...

Rash or Some Kind of Insect Bite?

I am coming once again with a question pertaining to my 14-month-old-daughter. I noticed the other day she had what appeared to be an insect bite on her leg. When she got up the next morning, it had turned into what appeared to be some kind of bright red rash with small raised bumps. I called the doctor and took her in. The doctor said it looked like some kind of exzyma-type reaction rash, I guess because it was right at her diaper line. She said that something may be irritating her. She gave us a prescription for hydrocortisone cream...

Allergy Shots and Asthma Meds

Hello Mamas, I am asking for your advice regarding asthma and allergy treatments for little ones. I am nearly at my wit's end dealing with my four and a half-year-old's allergies and asthma. She is currently fighting an asthma flare up and is receiving breathing treatments every four hours on top of her regular meds. She is confined to the upstairs of our house (we live in a bi-level)and cannot go anywhere else (no other houses, no errands and certainly not outside) until the flare-up is better. She is nearly 48 hours into treating...
