Any recommendations for natural allergy relief? pollen counts are skyrocketing. My eyes are itchy, head is stuffy, sinuses ache, post nasal drip non stop, even m gums and teeth hurt.

I've been washing my face and hands with warm water just to keep my skin clean of irritants. I've also been having a teaspoon of honey in my morning tea.

Any other ideas?

I was told to eat a spoonful of LOCAL honey every day and that is supposed to help. Although, I have not tried it.... : (

Local honey is good, local bee pollen is also good. We sprinkle a little pollen in cereal.

We also like to use the Sinus rinse. The pedi recommended the sinus rinse to keep pollen at bay as well.

Good luck

go to your local market and pick up LOCAL honey....all the pollen from YOUR LOCAL AREA will be in it..

Take one to two teaspoons a day in the AM - that should help.

Shower every night RIGHT before you go to bed. Make sure your sheets are changed often and washed and dried in HOT water....

I use the Neil-med sinus rinse as well - not the netty pot - it's a huge mess - to keep my sinuses cleaned out!!

Good luck!

You have a Sinus problem. That is why you have the sinus ache and post-nasal drip and pain in your gums/teeth.
That is the sinus cavity...and if you have a sinus infection (which it sounds like you do), you do NEED meds.
Or it will get worse or take a LONG time, to go away.

For Sinus upkeep:
1) Use a Neti Pot, nasal rinse
Any natural food stores/drug stores/Whole Foods will have it.
My husband uses a neti-pot. Its easy.

Allergies, need an antihistamine.
I don't know of any natural antihistamines.

Also, get an air-purifier/filter for your home.

Or, go to Whole Foods, and ask them about natural remedies for a Sinus Infection.
They are very helpful/knowledgeable.

Borion makes some great all natural remedies and allergy tablets. you can find them online or at your local health food store.

I also recommend a deep cleaning of your home with natural items like from Method or if you have carpets, have them cleaned through a company that uses toxin free materials. No shoes in the house, eliminate clutter to eliminate dust, keep pets cuts and groomed and washed frequently too.

Drinking lots of water and tea and avoiding the outdoors when pollen counts are high.

I feel your pain, it's been a bad allergy Spring!

I've heard that stinging nettle tea works well, but I've not tried it yet.

Check out your local farmers market for local honey. Also invest in a Netti pot. My parents have an air purifier in their home and it really does seem to cut down on the dust and pet hair in their home.

I use Singulair, Aleve, and Astilin nose spray. I also put Vicks is a pan of water on the stove to a slow boil. That helps alot.

My daughter gets hit with it more than I o. A pharmacist I know said to put a cap full of bleach in her humidifier and run it all night and whenever she is in her room. It has helped tremendously these past few days to loosen up the gook in her nose and throat.

I've gotten excellent results with the herbal mix "Allergy ReLeaf System". It's a systemic thing, not a symptom suppressor, so it takes a few days to get to relief. I've found it pretty effective once I've been taking it for a few days.

When that's not enough, I combine it with loratadine (an allopathic drug).

I've also heard good things about Neti pots and local *unpasteurized* honey.

Your symptoms sound like a sinus infection. You need to see your primary care physician or an Ear Nose Throat (ENT) right away. I've suffered from seasonal allergies since childhood and without management with loratadine and Flonase daily, I would have sinus infections much more frequently than I already do.

I've never heard of honey improving allergy symptoms. I'm actually allergic to honey to the point that it causes blisters in my mouth and hives and made my sensitivities to seasonal allergies worse instead of better. Maybe you should lay off the honey for a while.

Daily showers are good for clearing the pollen. I like the sinus rinse, but you have to be really certain to sterilize the bottle and use it properly because it can introduce bacteria into your sinuses and cause infections rather than flush out gunk. Just be cautious.

Bee pollen. It contains everything you're looking for in honey, but in much greater concentrations. The bee pollen needs to be local, just like the honey, though. Rinsing your sinuses with a neti pot will help too.

All that said, though... it sounds like you have a sinus infection if your gums and teeth hurt. It might be worth heading to the doctor to see if you need anti-biotics for that.

A detox of your home will build your immune system so you can handle the high pollen count. When I lived in North Carolina I needed a warm compress every morning just to get my eyes unglued. My first attempt at getting rid of my allergies was the teaspoon of local honey in the morning. It helped but nothing like the detoxification of my home and even my body. My allergies are completely gone. This has worked with EVERYONE in our family as well as extended family and some friends. I even have a friend in Nevada who has three children with Asthma that have been symptom free for years.

I can walk you through what I did if you're interested. It was simple and inexpensive as well...

With my son, we had amazing results from local wildflower honey. Basically, it acclimates the body to the local pollen, so it no longer triggers an immune response -- end of allergy. I don't know if this works as well for adults (and of course, if you've got a bacterial sinus infection, it won't help at all), but with my son, he went from being completely unable to sleep without Zirtec to having no allergic symptoms whatsoever -- took less than a week.

Good luck,

Mira

I have had seasonal allergies for years. There are very few things that work for me, and believe me, I've tried everything. 1) Neti pot. In the morning before you get ready and right before you go to bed. It is a bit weird to get used to, but it works so well, and I sneeze and sniffle SO much less. 2) Bush and Laumb (sp?) Alaway eye drops. You only put them in once every 12 hours, but they will soothe and cool your eyes so they don't itch so much. It's amazing. And 3) local honey. Buy it, put it in your tea or coffee, or whatever you like, and start doing it before the season starts. I have never liked honey, but during allergy season, it's a good friend of mine. Helps with the allergies, and the sore throat that sometimes comes with it. Good Luck!
