What Do You Do with Used Toys That Are in Great Condition

I have been searching for a long time for a place in Trenton / Princeton area that accepts used toys / baby clothes. So far my search was fruitless. I think it's such a shame that nobody wants to take toys that are often in perfect condition, since my children keep getting a lot of them from various relatives and sometimes play with a new toy just ones and that's it! I would hate to throw them out. Have you heard of such place, please? Many toys are really easy to assess what age they are designed to be, also many of them have logos so you can easily figure out how safe they are. I remain hopeful! Thanks in advance for your responses.

So What Happened?

Dear Ladies,
thank you so much for taking time to reply to my request. All the ideas are great and I will most definitely use them! I feel very good knowing that someone will be able to benefit from all the great things my children are not using any more. Thank you again and Happy Holidays!

I live in PA just over the bridge from Trenton and we have a bunch of stores that accept used toys and clothing. Thrift stores/consignment shops will accept used toys/clothing. Some will even give you a few dollars for them. If you google thrift stores in Bucks County you should be able to find a few. Or you could have a yard/garage sale, that's what my sister does. She gets people at her house at 8am. If you decide to do that you should advertise that it's for children's toys. Another option is ebay or one of the sites that allow people to swap their stuff. http://www.freecycle.org/search

There's a good consignment store in Princeton called Milk Money that accepts toys and clothes. We also list a lot of toys and other items like that or items like snowsuits and such online at craigslist.org under central New Jersey (for your area) or Philadlphia, whatever area is closer for you. Good luck!

You could also try to put them on Craigslist.com under free and you would be surprised how many people would want to take them.

Hi, Joanna! Have you tried Home Front, in Trenton, NJ?

http://www.homefrontnj.org/

They accept baby clothes, toys, and tons of other stuff, provided it is "gently used." There's a list of needs/wants on their donation page.

Hi Joanna,
Any Church will or I would think, take those items. If that's not a go, then try consignement shops and make a little profit. Put them on Ebay, or I will. I'm a huge ebayer. Buyer and seller. You could also take them to the good will. It's a tax write-off and people like me can buy them at a low price. I have two boys ages 4 and 7 and they don't know the difference between new and used. Let me know how you made out.

There is a place in Newtown Pa on sycamore street that is called Yours, Mine, and Ours. They have really nice things. Everything is consigned or donated. The number is 1-###-###-####. The woman who runs it is super nice. If you are familiar with Newtown it is just a few blocks down from where Starbucks is located. Good luck and Happy Holidays! www.livegreeneasy.com

You can take them to Milk Money on Tulane Street in Princeton. Gina takes both good quality toys and clothes - it's a great store and great resource in the area.

Best of luck.
