Looking for Places to Donate Toys

Does anyone know of organizations that would take kids toys and actually give them to kids, rather than resell? I know we can donate them to the Cancer Society, but I'm wondering if any hospitals or shelters or something like that would like baby/toddler toys.

V. - I've sold some toys and clothes to Once Upon A Child. But, they resell them. But, you can also donate to Salvation Army. I think they might give them to children. There is one on Foster and Cumberland Ave.

If you can find your local battered Women's Shelter they ALWAYS need stuff like that. Clothes (women's business in particular), and halloween costumes too.

There is a womens/children only shelter on Grand Avenue, just 1-2 blocks west of Halsted (brick building on the SE corner just as Grand crosses over I90/94) that greatfully accepts anything you give and will give you a tax receipt. Just ring the door bell and women will come out and help you unload your car.

I am a member of an association that is not-for-profit that works with providers who care for children in the Austin community. I'm sure that we could use some toys for some of our inner-city children who don't have them. Please call me with any questions you may have- ###-###-####

Hi,

I am not sure if you are willing to pack and mail the items, but I have personally visited Toy Rescue Mission in Tacoma, Washington. I met the President and viewed their operation. They not only take toys and games, but they take pieces and incomplete games as well. I know they actually get the items to people who truly need them. You can check them out at http://www.toyrescuemission.org/

Also, I have a contact in the Louisiana area who will take all kinds of donations. Again, I have personally visited their operation and they also really do provide to the people in need. They have limited space right now because they have taken in so many people from Katrina, but I'd be happy to contact them for you.

All the best to you,
J.
